I'm on t-mo, and I only turn it on when needed. Most of the time I've got it set to 2G only (yes, cry for me), because that is all I get around house and work.
I agree with the others - it sucks battery unless the signal strength is good.
Truth be told, I'd be delighted to get consistent 3G speeds.
