It would be nice to get a finalised version of BB10 which enables bars to be installed from backup files from different BBRY accounts

At least to remove the blackberry world icon...maybe.
    I'm still hoping something...

    Blackberry Passport Silver Edition
    Hey endiadi,

Please don't be concerned; Blackberry has stated nothing will shut down after 12/31 except the ability to update or add new BBW apps. All existing apps and services will remain available.

I'm still on 10.3.2.556 on my Q10, but don't know what benefits (if any) there might be from updating at this point.

    stability and performance improvements

I would update if I were you.

Don't despair tegar. Despite what the naysayers would have you believe BBL hasn't given up on us yet!

So what's the easiest way to update since the device says it has the latest version. I can't use link because the port is broken. So I assume that I have to download software onto the micro SD card and then put it into the Q10?

OTA is your only way or fix your port.

What about borrowing a SIM from a friend? The OS available to you via OTA depends upon the mobile phone company. I have no idea what is available where you are but it could be worth temporarily trying to change networks to get the latest OS if you really want it.

I don’t think SD card is an option. As repeatedly suggested, it’s fix the port if you can’t receive OTA update. It’s not as if we have new developments for an old device.

I believe you said that you’re in or around the Springfield MO area. Google search provides multiple repair shops.

Not on a Q10 - they are all tied to carriers.

You have to update manually, and MUST use an autoloader from a PC.

Yes. But as indicated in that article, BB10 EOL remains at Dec 31 2019.

BlackBerry merely pointed out that it is not their intention to immediately shut down the remaining backend services on the same date.

There is no stated commitment however as to how long they plan to keep those services going.

It's simply prudent to hope for the best, but plan for the worst. It is difficult to comprehend why some seem so opposed to this reasonable mindset.

Best comment ever seen on this matter. Imo the greater the risk of potential issues, the harder this well-balanced mindset can be adopted hence the term "diehard".
