BBOS, meaning legacy BlackBerry Operating System, OS7 on down. In other words, stop dumping revenues into the past.

When did the CEO actually say that though? Didn't they just announce a new OS 7 device?

    Unfortunately, it wasn't the CEO.

They are still gonna push more BlackBerry OS 7. The Q5 should have been the answer to the need BBOS 7 fills.

I'm close to my breaking point with the BlackBerry board. They just can't seem to "Get It" no matter how much we as users hammer them or the market hammers them.

I am at maybe 20 percent left in believing they know what they're doing.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

If the Q5 isn't targeted for os7 updates then who?

People who want a less expensive BB10 device.

Surely you've seen all the people here complaining about all the BBOS features that they "removed" from BB10? Some people just continue to use BBOS devices instead because it is the right device for them. My company just issued 99xx devices to everyone for example, while the IT department plans the rollout of our next system.

The monthly revenue from 70 million or even 60 million BES / BIS subscribers is nothing to sneeze at.

So then enable bis if an option on bb10, and start adding those bells and whistles. Alternatively there are other sources of service income for bb10. You can only milk the cow so many times you know...

As for OS7, put it this way: I'm not going to the junkyard to get my scrapped 1986 Oldsmobile Firenza back just because it had comfy seats and my radio stations programmed.

Time to cut the cord, and move forward.

Chasing two rabbits at the same time usually gets you none. I also agree that ditching bbos is the best thing to do right now and focus on bb10. 7.1 is mature enough to be used for a couple of years while transitioning users to bb10 and the people working to update it and it's apps would make a difference in speeding up developing bb10. Getting bb10 fixed and updated faster will be better and totally needed in order for it to succeed.
