Is there any advantage or difference in downloading an apk and converting it to a bar vs just installing the apk? Just a thought.

Best to go with the "native" format if at all possible. Then you can go with the Android/.apk file for the app you want.

Converting .apk to .bar files is a hit/miss proposal. Tried it a number of times on my Praybooks, and was about 40/50 percent successful. BUT, the was with os 2.xxxx somthing or other, I have moved on to Lollipop for my tablet needs, and OS 10 for mt Blackberry needs.

If you install an APK BB10 converts it into a bar file during installation. BlackBerry can't run an APK.

Conversion to bar has been irrelevant for around two years now.
