    Hello All!

I'm having issues with my device storage filling up. This is due to the thumbnail cache taking up so much space. I have to run CCLEANER every two days now to remove the thumbnail cache file. I know when it's happening as my device runs slow and 'locks up' prior to the 'Device storage almost full' notification.

I've tried deleting as many images on my phones internal storage to try and combat this issue as the thumbnail file is a collection of my media's thumbnails. However, the file is still huge and the issue persists. My fear is that the thumbnail file includes all of the media files on my 64 GB micro SD.

I'm thinking that I'm gonna have to get a Passport with its much larger internal storage to facilitate my large media collection. I hope I'm not answering my own question and that someone here can chime in with a solution.

    Thanks for reading!

Back up the device, remove the SD card and throw an autoloader at it? (.2813)

    Is your phone encrypted?

I had a similar issue on my previous install. I shall continue to strip media from device storage. Failing that, I will install .nomedia files in some of my SD cards picture folders. This should stop OS10 from indexing the folder. Thus, not caching the pictures thumbnail. That's the plan if all else fails.

    Thank you

Not that I have a lot of files on my device, let me know how that works out for you.

    Will do!

You wouldn't believe how 'snappier' BB10 is when it has 3GB + available device storage space. BB10 can be very slightly sluggish with less than 2GB device storage, not that it's that noticeable / and you get used to its performance. However, one becomes aware of slight performance increase when given adequate storage space. Moreover, it also improves battery life.

I have 8.69 GB free so I guess I must be quite used to it.

I don't load a lot of extraneous crap on my device and because of that I don't run into issues with application conflicts either. I pulled the 1 TB drive out of my laptop and replaced it with a 256 Gb SSD. It's only half full. I'm a minimalist when ever possible.

Sorry to bump an old thread but I've narrowed down the culprit and I believe this information could help others facing the same issue.

My device storage would fill up due to the android version of instagram. I believe that this is due to a runtime glitch that's re-cache my entire micro SD that contains a lot of images. A large thumbnail cache file is the result of this glitch.

I had similar issues with other Android apps. My battery would drain, and my memory would fill up. I have stopped using all Android apps.

The only real work-around I've got for it is to use an android app called 'apk permission remover' to remove the app's 'modify contents of SD card' (device storage) permission. Without access to my device storage, it cannot write a huge cache file. However, this means that I can only use iGrann to upload to instagram now.
