I'm getting these alerts constantly now, but I know it's not full. I have a separate SD card for all of my media and documents.

    Suggestions?

You have less than 1 gb left of onboard memory avail. You should move some of your docs/images/music/etc. to the SD card and free up the "onboard" memory of the device.

The alerts are letting you know it's time for some "housekeeping"

What could anyone possibly suggest that you can't do? Delete stuff you don't need, or don't use?

I had a similar problem but noticed when looking at the file system pictures on the SD were also on the device. It was hard to spot nut fixed the problem.
I also deleted apps that I had not used.
    Solved my problem.

Looks like you have quite a bit in your device memory. Everything you have can be moved to the SD card from the device memory. Including downloads and documents, etc, etc, etc. If you don't have the same folders on your SD, you can make your own to match. Oh, you can't store apps on your SD, so if that's what all those downloads are, you need to delete some.

Got it figured out. I really don't have a lot of media or downloads stored on the device. But here's a tip...sort the folders by size. open the biggest one. Sort by size again, etc. Until you find the offender.

In my case, I have an app from another forum that had over 12,000 images stored in the local cache. It was enormous. Deleted them all and now the alerts are gone.

Glade you figured it out, but another thing to consider is that apps are stored on the device memory and can also be a culprit.

I think the biggest issue I find is the cache. I can delete apps but before you know it I'm getting low memory pop ups again. What's annoying is some apps like CBC is a small install but with the cache I have 91mb. Only way to clear that for CBC is delete and reinstall.. I cannot find a cache cleaner that works either

Also it would be more helpful if you let the storage screen fully load the pie graph to see how much is user files vs apps

I don't know why it does it this way but sometimes it will bounce back and forth with the pie graph, showing everything vs not.

I caught a screen shot just now. The clog was definitely the cache file

Yah it takes a few minutes for it to read all your app data to determine the pie graph. You need to let it load completely without leaving the screen or shutting off the screen. I just did a bunch of cleaning on my phone. Took all the personal files, pics etc off and my graph still looks like this

I don't know why mine says so much user data still. I'm assuming that is cache from apps I cannot clear unless I delete and reinstall everything

Use the overflow buttons when you are in the file manager to sort the folders by size.

Keep doing that until you see what's clogging up your space. I would have never looked where I did had this not made it obvious where I should be looking.

Hmm yah I will have to try this. I notice tho if there's a folder within the folder it doesn't sort it properly, for example the misc folder for android files it put at the bottom even tho its the biggest file overall

Side note to this, in the android folder my movies, music, pictures, download have 4 duplicate folders. Is it safe to delete some of these to clean it up a bit.. kinda weird it's duplicated itself 4 times..

Also I uninstalled Rdio from my phone since it decided to stop working. But within the android data there's still a Rdio folder. I tried to delete it but says permission denied.

There's also a 30mb qt_temp file in my downloads folder it won't let me delete, this android stuff seems to be a pain

Is it sorting your folders in ascending or descending order?

These are symbolic links to the same folder, not duplicates. Let it be.

Box and Dropbox can use a huge amount of device storage (>1 Gb) if a sync has been left hanging, in my experience.

Another I discovered was Navfree. When doing map updates, you may need to completely uninstall the old map, close the app, and reinstall the updated map, or it will double device storage requirements. I have a message in with the developer.

My misc folder ,has an android folder in it, when I click on its properties, I shows me that it has 9GB in it, but I can't find any folder within that android folder that carries that amount of GB for me to start deleting ( if it's even possible)

I had this problem too. You probably have a folder that has a lot of folders in it. I mean a lot!
One of my android apps had about 2k of folders in its main folder. I deleted all of them as I was not using the app anymore. That solved the problem.
