Now, I know that most people would be happy with this, but when I click Delete on a Gmail in Hub, it actually DELETES (moves it to Trash). When connected to Gmail via IMAP, Delete is actually supposed to Archive (and the items should still appear in All Mail):

    https://support.google.com/mail/answer/78755?hl=en

Many people would prefer that Delete actually delete (move to trash), and in fact, here on CB, they posted how to change the settings in Gmail to accomplish this:

How to prevent deleted Gmail messages from archiving when synced using IMAP | CrackBerry.com

However, I use Gmail's Archive feature, and I would prefer to archive emails that I don't want (rather than delete). I have NOT changed my settings per the CB instructions above, so using the Delete button in Hub should Archive the Gmail. However, it is actually deleting.

So the question is: How do I archive my Gmail rather than deleting (moving to Trash).

    Sorry if this was convoluted.

Edited to add: This only started in the past few days. Up until a few days ago, the deleting Gmail in Hub archived it properly.

    Thanks!

could be that google changed the way 3rd parties manage gmail?

have you checked your actual gmail settings online to make sure nothing is wonky there?

I think you should double check your Gmail settings from computer.
I specifically want to delete emails on Gmail, i.e move them to the Trash.

    My settings are as follows.

Pretty sure this is a 10.3.2 thing because I haven't changed my server side settings since 10.2.1 and with that one I had to do a move to the trash manually. Load 10.3.2 as a clean install and it works. Mind you, I think it still needs to sync and I haven't tested how long the sync takes in both directions. This is still positive.

If you want to archive you can always move to all mail folder.

    OP,

Did you by chance update to a new OS about the time you noticed the change in delete behaviour?

I specifically addressed this in my OP. My settings are set to the defaults: Auto-Expunge ON and Archive the message (default). Hence my confusion about why it's deleting rather than archiving.

Perhaps it was the 10.3.2 update. Don't understand why BB IMAP is behaving differently with Gmail than any other IMAP client now.

Select the emails and move them.

No. All Mail is no longer available in Hub, even though it is turned on to sync in Gmail Web settings.

Offhand without testing no, but I will give you a ghetto workaround.

In the account settings folders to sync, folder mapping. Trash is currently mapped to trash.

Make a folder and call it My Archive or something and map Trash to My Archive. Then I guess it will move stuff there on delete.

Weird my setting are the opposite and my Gmail is Archiving when I want it to delete item. It doesn't matter what setting I choose the behavior is exactly the same, that is it archives when I delete a message from BlackBerry.

I am also having same issues with gmail it deletes email and send it to trash rather than sending to archive. I think its after update because earlier it didn't use to do this. I dont know whether it was 10.3.2.680 or latest I did to 10.3.2.2204.

If your settings are opposite, then you're good. The opposite means your emails should archive.

Can you try setting Auto-Expunge Off and change the later behaviour to Archive the Email rather than Move it to trash and check whether it behaves any differently

It was set to Archive, the default. I can try Auti-Expunge Off, but I actually think this is fixed!

Yup. It's fixed. Was probably a Gmail IMAP problem that they fixed. No way BlackBerry fixes anything that fast.

Delete will work. Just change the settings located in the CB link in my OP. The default should be to archive, which it's back to being. That's best for me.
