decrypting media card, restart phone (the decryption has been taking all day on the fast 64gb card), now all files are inaccessible, though thumbnails are still present, appears as decrypted in the encryption settings

    help?

Restarting the device in the middle of decryption was a big mistake. There are people posting here who have waited 3 or more days for a security wipe to complete before giving up. That seems way too long for a wipe, but I would definitely wait it out for decryption since the stakes are much higher.

That said, maybe it all went wrong and restarting made no difference.

Try connecting to your device SD card over Wifi and copying all the files off of it. Maybe some files have been successfully decrypted. Fall back to USB if you have problems with the Wifi.

Afterwards, you could also take the card out and try some recovery software on it on a PC (some posters have recommended Recuva), but I can't see anything useful being recovered.

If this doesn't help, then I suspect you will have to accept the data loss and restore from a previous backup.

I would also reformat the card and restart the device before using the card again.

Thanks for the advice. It's not a big deal to lose the data, but it is a little disappointing. I honestly just forgot I was still in the middle of a decryption, and performed a standard, software restart. BB10 should have been able to handle it, however, but I definitely would have waited had I not forgotten.

Ideally yes, but life kicks in sometimes.

Another thing they should do is disable the option for USB mass storage mode when the SD card has been encrypted. People have been caught out before backing up files that are still encrypted and can therefore not be decrypted. As ever, don't just backup - test your backups.

Very good advice for everyone. And I've definitely learnt a lesson. Funny that all the thumbnails are still accessible on my phone and through Blend.
