Link has to have been loaded and remote file access enabled. I don't think it needs to be up and running after its set up as the drivers are already in place by that point. But the PC itself has to be on, and obviously connected to the internet.

BTW, BlackBerry did push this feature quite heavily when it was added to Link back with, I think, it's second or third update. But that was last summer. Most people it seemed where having fits with Link at the time (not installing correctly, not logging into BBID, etc...) and as a result, just not using it.

Can Remote File Access be used to access a USB or flash drive that is plugged into a network port on a router?

I don't usually keep my computer on when I'm not at home, so although RFA is definitely a cool feature, I don't really use it. I know that a lot of the new routers have USB ports that you can put in a hard-drive and access via an FTP or some sort of login credentials. It'd be cool if I could access that from my Q10.
Could you map the USB drive as a network drive connection on the system running Link? That may make it accessible via the BB

...However I also use jump desktop on my ipad air to have full access to my PC.
I believe this functionality is available with Splashtop.

What resolution problem, you need to use playon option from media player or browser.

PS Have you found a decent wake on lan app or you just leave your pc on all the time.

Does anyone know if this can be made to work with a Network attached storage server rather than a PC, presumably it would need some compatible drivers loaded?

I'd rather leave the server on 24/7 than the PC.

There may be ways to do this with apps on other platforms but it is not built in to the OS.

Plus, this is now reliable. There were times in the past when it was not but now it is.

It is NOT reliable. For me, worked more often months ago than now.
