I find that my contacts sometimes "disappear" then reappear later. I was looking for a previously saved contact but it wasn't there. When I checked later, the contact was back. This happened with other contacts at the same time. What would be a cause of this? It can be very inconvenient at the most inopportune time.

Are these disappearing contacts synced from an account like Gmail, or Activesync?

Yes, they are Gmail contacts. What does that mean? Will disappearing contacts happen from time to time?

I just switched to passport se a couple of days back. Noticed it today, I have my gmail contacts synced in and its been acting up. Duplication, disappearing and then reappearing, some contacts getting weird symbols in front of them. I erased all my local contacts, deleted my gmail contacts, made sure the address book was empty, rebooted and added gmail contacts from account setup. I let it sync for a while and everything seemed fine till a whatsapp msg popped up from my dad showing only his number and not his name. i checked the address book and he wasn't there, i checked for him from my pc browser and he showed up in my gmail account contacts. Moments later i check my phone again and there he was, mysteriously ! Seems like a lot of sync issues with Gmail !
