I highlighted all 150 of my contacts on my q10, hit link contacts, and now they have all disappeared. Wtf happened.....

did you link them all? it may think you wanted to merge.

I thought linking contact profiles was for bringing peripheral accounts like Skype or bbm into one view per contact.

clearly I didn't understand what the link function did. But now I have all of my contacts saved under one contact, "mom" and when i try to unlink them nothing happens.

there should be an option in the contact edit menu shows you the existing linked profiles.

you should be able to un-link selectively at least.

Open the contact which has link to all the contacts. Now open the links option in the contact. Then you will across something like this :

    Contacts Disappeared upon "Linking" Contacts-img_20160428_093743.png

    Unlink the contacts

There's also an option in the Settings of the Contacts app that gives you the option to unmerge all contacts, it should fix your problem in one shot.
