Use the latest version of Cobalt's Google Play Services (9.8.77).

Also, when patching, be sure you use the latest Play Services Patcher (1.6).

O.K. I updated Google Play Services to Version 9.8.77 directly from Cobalt's page. Then I downloaded the latest version of the patcher (1.6) and re-patched Google Maps, and Uber after uninstalling them. This time, Google Maps, displays a gray dot, rather than a blue one. It does not receive GPS signals apparently, Uber still also did not display the streets. It was a blank screen. uninstalled them both. Downloaded again directly from Play Store (unpatched) onto Passport. Google Maps works flawlessly. Uber works, as best as I could get it to work. I am able to order service. Have not been able to enter a destination. I will keep trying to tweak the uber app and report back. If anyone has any suggestions for uber, please let me know.

    Hey Guys,

Since last week Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 note has become invalid in India. Paytm mobile wallet has now become extremely important for day to day expenses. The official paytm app for Blackberry doesn't work on blackberry passport and it doesn't support all the features.

After moving from Z10 to Passport I tried installing paytm but I didn't bother much to patch it but after last week's event there is no option but to find a way to make it work on passport. So I asked my friend to share his windows computer remotely and I installed this utility to patch paytm app and I am glad to say it works perfectly.

Here is the link to download the app: https://www.dropbox.com/s/kpr5qqxc14...tched.apk?dl=0

or you can patch it yourself. I confirm it work fine.

Patching does not make an app compatible, it only allows it to run if it requires Google Play Services.

    Hi Conite

I heard from u that Google play services won't consume much battery and also learned any android app won't run in background as soon as it is minimized

Then why android apps consume more battery

I can clearly see difference in battery performance with and without android apps

That's right. Android apps do not run in the background.

When they are running in the foreground however, they do take more battery because they are working within a virtual machine on another OS.

Is it also applicable for services like fb, play services, twitter etc. Those services will run in bg. So will they also impact performance of battery unlike bb10 services? I mean will android service also run within the context of virtual machine

I'm asking this question because if install android fb abd twitter apps but don't open in foreground, will there be any impact on battery

If not I can rely on those apps for notifications purpose
