Download the apk from the play store using cobalt's solution or using Snap by red light of love. Then it can be properly patched.
I only linked it so people knew which app I meant. Thanks though.

I downloaded it from here using the APK Downloader addon for Firefox:
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...tunnel.android

I have no experience with that app, but have you whitelisted the unpatched app?
I whitelisted the unpatched APK. I reinstalled the patched APK. It cannot connect to any servers. Tis sad.

Regarding Pokemon Go, I don't play. I just wanted to see if I could get it to run. I obtained the API key, but never saw a place to put it. I went ahead without it. The app installed and opens. Only, it cannot access GPS.

    HI There,
I recently successfully setup cobalt per all the instructions in this thread.
Recently, however I'm also noticing changes. Most notably the fitbit app now tells me that I need to have the google play services installed in order to add exercises using the android app on my Z30.
I select the 'get google play services' and it appears to go through the install however it doesn't seem to update.

So my question is, are the components originally installed static or do they need updating too?

You must use the Google Play Services app provided by Cobalt.

Then you must patch any app that needs those services on your PC with Play Services Patcher.

I did install the play services provided by cobalt originally. So how do I know if it needs to be patched?

Any app that requires those services (like your fitbit app) needs to be patched.

AH yes, I am updating the individual apps as they require.

Do the 3 initially installed components need to patched forwards too? Or put another way. If i installed google play services 3weeks ago, has a new version come out that needs to be installed?

There haven't been new versions of Cobalt's apps for a while now. You can check his landing page periodically. Just Whitelist was updated to 1.0.0.5 for the sake of Pokemon players.

You don't patch Cobalt's apps. They are already patched in a special way.

If you want to make payments through Google Play Store, you should update to login 4.4.4 (you can simply update right over top, with no need to run it or sign in again). Otherwise 4.3.3 is fine.

Yah, not interested in payments right now.

So do I have google play services correctly installed?
Should my fitbit be working? Its on the latest version of the app installed from the play store.

You have to patch the fitbit app on your PC, as with any app that requires Google Play Services.

Correct. The Play Services Patcher app is a Windows app.

The app is on Cobalt's landing page.

Got it. Just one last question.
I'll run the patcher to spit out a new version of the fitbit app. Then what? remove it from the device then re-install with the modified APK?
