What app did you use to patch Maps? Was it with Lucky Patcher or Cobalt's "Play Service Patcher"?
Make sure you are whitelisting the unpatched APK.

Update available: Blackberry Google ID 2.7. The download link in the first post has been updated.

Some of you have reported that they don't get a location lock in Google Maps (well, only if GPS is available). I did some research on that and found a setting that seems to control the network location provider (NLP) in Google Play Services. It looks like this setting is turned OFF by default and therefore only GPS is used.

As the settings database is provided in Blackberry Google ID, I modified the code to support that option. If you checkin your device with Blackberry Google ID, network location support is now automatically turned ON. You can control the setting in the Blackberry Google ID about menu. If the option is set to ON, apps will first try to gather your position from the mobile network and only use GPS as a fallback.

So here is the changelog for Blackberry Google ID 2.7
* New: Added network location support
* New: Added a new option in the about menu to control the setting

I suggest to remove the old Blackberry Google ID and then install the new one. Remember to clear Play Store cache after doing the checkin (required to force Play Store to fetch the new GSF ID from the server). Also, your custom signatures added with Google+ Whitelist will be lost and must be readded.

Does Google Maps now require patching to function properly? It used to work without patching until just a few weeks ago, where it can't get a read on my location anymore. I have never needed to patch this app to work in the past. Any insights?

Googel Maps works best with the following setup on your device:

Account Manager 4.3.3
Blackberry Google ID 2.7 (new)
Google Play Services 8.4.89
Google Maps (Patched with Play Services Patcher)

With that setup, you can use EVERY feature of Google Maps and you get INSTANT lock on your location, even in buildings.

I did try somemore with no success. After connecting the watch ones it is not visible anymore for any bluetooth device. I did reset the watch and it was visible again. Here are some screenshots.

It just stays at the synching screen for some 10 - 20 minutes and gets to the watch face with no connection Signal on the watch face.

I spent days doing the above, with the same results as I had mentioned in my 1st post here

I can work with outside help on the BT connection issue (disappearing BT Smartwatch) with my BT sniffing app, some patience and my android & bb test devices




But... once resolved, no further headway can be made until cobalt can resolve (my) services issue


If I can hook up with cobalt, and start to fund him... and or supply him with my watch, I am in -but please also all others interested, contribute to his cause.

That would be nice.

Chances are acknowledgement of the location services issue might have allowed it to have been resolved earlier.

Blackberry Settings -> App Manager -> Device Monitor -> Storage -> Play Store -> Clear Data

I click "clear data" and the window pops up asking if I want to "delete data", I click "delete" and it still says 8.9mb, is that normal? Shouldn't it now read 0mb if I deleted it all?

Edit: the above issue does not seem to affect anything. Play Store opens fine, downloading apps as well.

You have to patch Skype if you want to install the version from Google Play Store.

Never use Lucky Patcher. Just throw that in the trash bin right now.

Use Patcher 1.4 on the PC. You can try with either decompile off or on to see if it finds something to patch.

The most common problem is, that the path to the java installation MUST end with Java.exe

Example:

Correct:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_40\bin\java.exe

Wrong:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_40\bin\
