No, do not sideload. These are APK files, so just put them on your device, then tap and open on your passport to install. Make sure that you allow apps from third party locations to be installed first, and make sure you follow the instructions and order of installation exactly and you won't have any problems.

Haven't checked this thread in a long time. Last I checked, over 6 months ago, maybe even a year ago, no apps that needed Google plus was working. Has this been fixed or is it still a problem?

I know I'm not Cobalt, but... isn't it common sense that if you can't root the System on the Blackberry Android Player, you can't make Xmod games run properly?

EDIT: Cobalt also play Boom Beach maybe he digs into xmodgames.

It looks like Google Service also got updated today. I found there was a newer version of gms under my Downloads folder.

I just came back to Blackberry (Passport silver) after a year or so away and installed google play etc using the instructions on page 1 of this thread.

All seems ok however this morning something strange happened.... I was on the train reading my emails when a message popped up on screen 'Unable to install app' It was strange as I had not tried to install an app and my phone had only been switched on 5-10 minutes earlier. I went into downloads and there is a file there (dated today) that I did not download
and the file is com.google.android.gms.apk which is I believe the play services apk?

Anybody seen this before, not sure if it is normal for sideloaded play store on BB? I am however slightly nervous thst a file has apparently been downloaded and installed (attempted) automatically.

Any ideas?

It's a bug in Play Store 5.10.29. That version of the store tries to download/update Google Play Services if it is out of date.

I suggest to update your Play Store to 5.12.9. You can do that in two ways:

1. Open Play Store, go to settings and click the version number
2. Go to the Play Store thread and download the new version from the first post

Hi Cobalt,

I am unable to successfully add a Google account (i.e. Google Business) that requires device encryption verification. Am I correct to assume that this is a known limitation, or could I be missing something? Other Android Settings (password, lock timeout) are verified (and visible under Android Settings - Security). There is no option for Encryption.

I can add the account, but when I launch Drive, and select that account, it launches a Google Account dialog and wants me to re-enter credentials. Then I end up at a Policies page which reports: Encryption must be enabled on this device (This policy is not supported by the device)

Hi Cobalt and fellow blackberry peeps

First of all, awesome work!!! Having a couple challenges with Google newsstand (connection error when I try to open any article). Also Google hangouts dialer rings the destination phone... but never connects and gives a connectivity error. Both apps seem to be signing into Google fine. Have tried. Gmaps patcher 1.3 and 1.4 b2. Any suggestions appreciated!!!
