Yes, it does. Maps doesn't perform well on stl100-1 devices. Try an older version like 6.14.4. Google it and you should easily find an apk.

If you're using cobalt's patched play services, this is what I'd recommend:

If an app uses Google play services, patch it. Even if it doesn't throw any nag screens. And only update it with patched versions. Updating a patched version with the original undoes any patching.

Thank you for the suggestion. I'll do as suggested and I'll report back. (by the way, is there by chance a method to clearly know if an app is calling the google services?)

There's no clear cut way of knowing for sure without using one of cobalt's patching tools. Luckily, if it doesn't require play services, his tools will report that there's nothing to patch.

I've not patched Google maps as only use it for other apps maps (eg MacDonalds app -store locator),for it to work I have to patch the app even though it says in lucky patcher nothing to patch here

it's advised NOT to patch maps and you don't need to have it installed for embedded maps within other apps to work.

You can't log in to YouTube as it requires Google+ to work, which we can't do anything about. If you need to log in, try a BlackBerry app or the browser (which is what I use).

Are you sure I don't need Google maps in stalled for it to show in other app s, pretty sure I did

With the number of people who want Google+ to work, if it ever does there's a great chance you'll see a front page post on CrackBerry letting people know they can now log in to YouTube and sync their Clash of Clans. The world is going to know about it once it's possible. Until then we just sit and wait.

I've installed google services 7.0.99 patched by Poi25, the link is on post n.1218. I'm not experiencing google services crashes anymore. Running very stable so far!
Still have to see how it will affect battery life but pretty happy for the moment.

What do you mean by "find"? It's part of your bb10 os, and there's nothing you can do to it to change it.

You simply won't be able to run newer versions of Google maps well. The hardware simply can't support it.

Do NOT patch. Only genuine Android devices can use that patch.
