Open Link, click on the settings Icon, on the General tab or page you will see the "Device backup location" box with a Open Browser icon next to it. Go crazy.

I have removed all media files from backing up. Only thing I backup is apps and data and settings. For obvious reasons...

I went through that as well, ended up removing the device, deleting all files in

C:\Users\<Your User Name>\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion << Just delete this folder
    C:\Users\<Your User Name>\AppData\Local\Research In Motion\BlackBerry 10 Desktop

and then restarted Link and let it rebuild those folders, reconnected the BB and setup the device again. Worked great after that.

You should really keep all this in one post. What version of windows are you running and what us the exact error?

Win7 . . . and the error simply states that the back up did not complete and instructs me to check to make sure the device is connected and on. ..
