What are the negative effects of blackberry being like apple and releasing their updates themselves? Carriers are taking way too long to finish testing the updates. Like seriously, what the hell do you have to test as a carrier? It's not so bad in canada, the the U.S is terrible. Obviously the carriers might get upset but at this point does it matter? I thinks only one carrier is carrying the z30, so why continue being the carriers *****? I think they should stand up for themselves and release the update themselves. What's the worst thing that can happen? The carriers stop selling blackberry phones? Seems that's gonna happen regardless. Looks weak to go down without a fight. (this was more aimed at U.S carriers, as mostly all other carriers are not nearly as against blackberry as them)

Problem is, BlackBerry doesn't have Apple money. Apple does all their testing (which probably explains why iOS 6 killed Exchange at launch), so I'm guessing it's part of the terms that a carrier has in order to sell their products. I doubt a carrier would say no to a piece of that pie.

Of course, with Sachesi and leaks, the problem is lessened, but American carriers should make like the rest of the world and get updates out on time.

The leaks are great but they only help this community and other tech people. The average consumers not gonna download a leak. They don't wanna go through that process just to get what everyone else already has. And that's understandable. What testing does apple do for the carriers? They obviously have to do testing on the software regardless so what extra do they do?

I agree, im with a carrier, koodo on the z30 and they don't have any updates. Maybe because they don't sell the phone. BlackBerry should just make it easy for people.

Well, yeah. A carrier isn't going to provide updates for hardware they don't sell or carry.

Carriers don't care. I'm with telus and when asked about upgrading the old os issued on z30. "We don't comment on os update comments " lol. Canadian carriers are no better.

At least Telus has the Z30.

And if you had a Telus Z10 vs an AT&T Z10? I'd rather have 10.2.0.1791 than 10.1.0.2074, by far.

And they seem to get the updates out in good time.
