I'm using a BlackBerry Z10 on T-Mobile. I just installed a software update for the first time in several years. Now whenever I connect the device to a wi-fi network, wi-fi calling is enabled and I cannot send SMS. The icon shows sending in progress, but never changes to a check mark, and the recipient does not receive the message.

I downloaded the WiFi calling app from appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/35524900 and this doesn't fix the problem, even with Wi-Fi Calling disabled. The only thing that helps is to disconnect from wi-fi completely.

Did you try again after restarting your phone? Also, is this a Z10 from T-Mobile? If not which version of the OS are you using?

If you send a group text it will not work especially if chat is enabled between recipients

The problem was occurring with texts to individuals.

Yes, since writing this I restarted a couple of times and also left home & came back. The problem looks like it may have resolved itself In fact I now have better voice reception at home with wi-fi calling. I will send an update in a few days whether it still works. Thanks for the help.

The Z10 was originally from Verizon before switching to T-mobile. I just upgraded to, which prompted this problem. Before that I'm not sure of the version, but probably it was 3+ years old.

Couple of thoughts. First of all -- unless something has changed -- t-mo requires you to have a "911" address listed in your profile or wifi-calling may not work. I recently did the OTA to .1463 and began having a lot of issues with texting -- worse over wifi-calling. I switched from circuit switching preferred to packet switching preferred. Phone seems far better at the moment. From what I've read, packet is best for VoIP. I'll let you know after a few days.
