I currently have 2 phones/carriers, a Q10 and a not-so-smart-Android and I am considering ditching the second for a Z30. I already have all app I need on the BB10. I also have Nexus 7 in my car that uses the Android phone BT tethering.

I have 2 questions for you folks:
    1. If you pay for hotspot can you share your BB10's internet with Android tablet/phone via BT? Is it seamless, any issues?
Currently I have it enabled on the Android phone all times and on the Nexus 7 I have to connect when I want to use it. When not in use, doesn't drain battery (except BT stand by).

    2. New T-Mobile $70 a month includes 2.5 GB of hot spot. I will have to buy the Z30 from somewhere else though. I know that on the BB10, tethering needs to be somehow activated on the carrier's side. I wonder if it will work or T-Mobile will brush me away saying it's not a compatable phone?

I have a q10 with tmobile 70 unlimited. And 2.5 gig hotspot. I use it all the time to power my iPad at no additional cost.
    Does that help?

Yes, I do it all the time - I use my Z10's BT internet tethering connection and run my Samsung Note 8 and my iPad Mini. As long as your plan is provisioned to allow it it will work just fine.

Once you set up the Z10 can you connect the Note 8 without touching the Z?
For example, enable BT tethering on the Z today, use it today, power off the Note 8. Power on the Note tomorrow and connect to the Z without touching the Z?

The reason I am asking all these crazy stuff is cause my Nexus 7 is my infotainment system in the car and I do many stops per day. I know wifi would work better, but drains too much battery+ the range is higher so if I am not to far away from the car the Nexus would continue sucking internet (playing audio streams).

Afaik it will not work over BT, just by setting up the phone as a wifi hotspot

If you can't do it with the q10 I don't think the z30 brings any changes to how that works so it still likely won't work though I am no expert.

The reason I can't do it with the Q10 is I can't get hot spot/tethering activated from my provider. Hence I am asking some of you to try it.

Honestly I think the only way is via a wifi hotspot, afaik there is no ability to do cross platform BT tethering like that. I couldn't do anything with my iphone 4 and playbook, I know it's different but I've never heard/read of it working.

I think Bluetooth/USB tethering is only for PC and Macintosh.

Q10 and Canadian all the way! Q10SQN100-3/10.2.0.1791
