Just installed BB Link on an XP machine and it has added the BlackBerry Virtual Private Network adapter. Is this necessary for Link or is it used for Blend only?

Blend cannot be installed on an XP machine and when started, the BB VPN adapter tries to search for a device. I'm thinking that if this is only needed for Blend then I can uninstall it.

If it is also needed for Link, is this only for wireless connections? If I connect my Classic using a USB cable then is the BB VPN adapter still needed?

The BlackBerry VPN is needed for Link, not Blend. The adapter is what makes remote file access work. There are other features that also work with it as well so I wouldn't disable it or remove it. It should be an on-demand adapter and it doesn't take any resources for the most part so let it do what it needs to.
