I have heard there are a lot of smartphones that are being cloned these days and I wonder if BB is one of them. Any idea?

I might be showing my ignorance here, but I thought cloning was more a function of the phone number than the OS?

Cloning as in IMEI and SIM cloning is mostly a problem with weakness in the 2G security implementation. If you keep your phone on 3G or 4G it shouldn't be an issue.

There are clone phones that look like BlackBerry phones but they all run android.
    Imei cloning,sim cloning.
Can someone explain what this is,
    Did it happen to me?
I bought a cheap pay as you go phone a few years ago, the sim with phone by chance had a nice number along the likes of
I was quite please with this number, a year or so later I was using the sim in a better phone and recycled the original phone for a couple of dollars.
Couple of weeks later my sim stopped working, I spent about $20 on phone calls to the carrier to get that phone number back or onto another pay as you go sim, I just gave up in the end and accepted I lost the number.
