I hear ya on that one.

I thought PB OS was a precursor to blackberry 10? Lol yet there are still things the core os of pbos 2.1 does better. Like better multitasking, the ability to set multitasking to showcase, pause or pause all but one and the incredibly simple buttonless lock feature lol

I submitted a feature request in the beta zone for 2 finger swipe from the top of the screen down to lock the phone a month or two ago. Hopefully something comes of it.

As far as I know that "move" is already taken: it gives BES users the possibility to jump from "work" to "personal".. If I remember well..

I'm jot sure if it's taken, but it would bbe partial featured. It would be impossible to implement lock, sleep and power into one gesture

I just upgraded to 10.3 and still no buttonless lock

This is a much needed feature. The button on mine is beyond repair and unfortunately I cannot use the device (enough pocket dialing and accidental emergency calls ...). Also spent a fair bit of time looking for an app to lock the screen.

There must be an API for this, any developer here willing to invest a day and put it on BB World?

Any suggestions or pointers to an app that would do this?

PS: Also tried a few Android apps for this, but they do not work.

Why not set the holster settings to lock the phone and use a simple magnet over it ? Or buy the official leather pouch from BlackBerry ?

That would work, but I do not use a holster and carrying around a small magnet to lock my device is kind of strange I have not programmed for a while but contemplating learning some basic Cascades coding and trying to make a simple app for this, but a former colleague was not sure such an API is even available externally....

I've checked and unfortunately there is currently no API available for developers to lock the screen.

Yea with 10.3 and up you can use advanced interactions. When you put your phone down face down or in a dark pocket it turns the screen off, and when you pick it up it turns the screen on. This is easily one of my favourite 10.3 features among many others

Bringing back the Password Lock 'app' icon would be great!

To lock and turn off screen in BBOS:

1. Tap lock icon.

To lock and turn off screen in BB10:

1.Press & hold power button
2. Then tap lock button on the screen
3. Then press power button AGAIN to turn off the screen
