You'll also notice how shop BlackBerry is discounting their old models like the classic, leap and all versions of the Passport. The Z30 fairly recently became unavailable on their pages after having been discounted as well. The hand writing is definitely on the wall...

To add to what I already said, BestBuy (US) has the leap on sale for $149 right now.

Actually, a B4B app cannot be an Android port. From BlackBerry:

"Your app needs to be developed using tools designed specifically for BlackBerry 10. These include IDEs or Frameworks that will compile an application that runs as an AIR, Native or WebWorks based BlackBerry 10 application."
OK. Then whatever process allows you to keep Android style navigation but using BB10 native development tools. The New York Times Reader is a good example.

That's a good idea. Write in the first line of body of the text that it's a 'native' BB OS10 app.
Unless things have changed, BBW would NOT allow the description to include the Native or Android label. They did not want purchasers to have that information.

People still use the utterly worthless facebook app? I've been going direct through browser for countless months now. Even replaced my fb icon on my first screen with a browser shortcut so I don't accidentally tap that other horrible POS.

haha im sure people do but I certainly don't. Its purely for notifications at this point as I also use the mobile version like you. Its just a shame that they can't even bother to update the app to the biggest social network out there.

When something attains the level of popularity and acceptance that Android has, it's no longer a cult.

    It's a full-blown religion.

This is a huge fuss over nothing. With the ongoing removal of Android ports from BBW to the amazon store, all apps in BBW will eventually become native only. So this program has become just expensive overhead and needed to be put out to pasture.

There has been some very good new apps added to BBW, recently. I would rather have quality over quantity anyway. We will go back to using the reputation of individual devs to determine the quality of their apps, which was always a more reliable system anyway.

Agree! BlackBerry had to remove this label... Alternatively, they could have renamed it - built for BlackBerry 10.

Really? Is that documented somewhere? It's really hard to see the sense in such a policy.

I had heard something along those lines before as well.

I think the idea was to not to alienate (or render as second class) a developer who ported his app to BBW.

You can still submit apps but the Built for BlackBerry logo disappears. Why?

Why not just tell everyone that they can't submit any new apps ...

This is totally in keeping with BlackBerry's product lifecycle strategy. They 'end of life' their products suddenly and without warning. They are a bunch of jokers.
