Bluetooth 4.0 Smart Ready for Peripherals
Everything i have read seems to indicate BBOS10 is capable of all of the new bluetooth 4.0 functions but i have no technical knowledge in this area and was hoping some folks here could shed some light on where BBOS10 is in implementing the full range of functions both hardware on Q/Z and software at the current Carrier level.
I am sure many of you are looking at the embedded technologies or the internet of things as they call it and QNX is supposed to be a leader in this area. I have read and heard from several app developers that BT4 is not fully implemented on BBOS10, most intriguingly this little snip it on the Kevo Kwikset lock form their website Kwikset: Kevo - Bluetooth Electronic Lock :
"Kevo is compatible with SmartPhones that support Bluetooth Smart Ready/Bluetooth 4.0 hardware and have an available Kevo mobile app. Currently Android 4.3, as well as Blackberry 10.1, does not fully support all Bluetooth LE features required by Kevo, but we hope it will soon. When it does, we will be ready shortly thereafter."
FINALLY a developer who is actually saying they will support BBOS10 from the start, every other of the cool new-lock technologies isn't even mentioning supporting BBRY and it looks like iOS and Android only. If they get this working i will buy a slew of these locks, both for my businesses and homes.
This could be a key advantage for BBRY if they have the software and hardware ready to go, maybe more devs and manufactures would step up to BB10. Alec Saunders, pick-up the phone and get these guys whatever resources they need! As users we need access to the coolest functionality to keep BBRY afloat.
I would love to hear form knowledgeable folks about where BBRY is in the curve of the full implementation of bluetooth 4.0 solutions for this or any other similar types of technology and tools.
