I have the latest BB World running on my z10. I noticed in settings and network connections that I can set it to use the wifi for downloading apps and stuff, however I noticed that BBW still requires your devices data to be enabled to access BBW. So my question is has anyone enabled the WiFi and has figured out if the WiFi feature actually works?

I only have a 1GB data plan right now and downloading games like Asphalt and NOVA 3 which are 1GB or more in size will kill my data for sure that I don't want to be paying extra for **** up that RIM makes in their software.

    Thanks

I was under the impression that BBW would ONLY work via a data package and not via WIFI. Albeit, I'm not sure why that is the case...

It just needs to be connected to your mobile network. I believe it does it for some kind of authentication.

It uses wifi whenever it can for the actual downloads. And from what I've seen the wifi only setting does work.

BBW will work on wifi only. Turn off you mobile connection and test it.

Open your BBW, pull the top menu down, to to settings, selected "network & data limits", then the only option is "used Wi-Fi Only" --- All downloads over 50MB will require a wifi connection whether this is set or not.

my version of BBW is 4.2.1.109

The device wifi will always be prioritized over your data connection when active.

I believe the carrier connection would be required to access carrier based billing and branding.

The wifi only option does work, and works well. So does the 50mb limit. I'm at work and just tried to download Where's My Water over the cell network and it stopped me because it's about 92mb
