    BB apparently owns the "flick up to complete" feature, but virtually all of the rest of the VKB is SwiftKey, in particular the prediction engine. BB licensed SwiftKey for BB10 rather than trying to create their own (they had neither the time nor resources to do so), but they can only offer it on BB-branded devices due to licensing restrictions from SwiftKey.

    BB could, in theory, license the "flick" feature, but that assumes another company would be willing to license it and pay what BB wants for it. So far, that doesn't seem to be the case.
