I suggest to get the Search app in the App list because it's no more use... we intend to use the Search Icon between the Cam and Call Icon.
Can i asked this? Did u used the Search App?
Maybe this must be included in the incoming BBOS 10.3 updated.

I agree with you it's a useless icon.

Not so useless. It is a universal search and saves lots of time. I put in a client's name and all communication and info pops up.VERY helpful for "getting things done ".

They were referring to the app icon. Not the shortcut at the bottom.

Bury it in a redundant folder and page it 7 pages behind. Or better yet, 10 pages behind.
Together with all the useless apps.

Yes I do but I only use two pages. Less scrolling.

I think we must suggest it to the Developer of the incoming OS10.3 update.

I heard that someone suggest to get the BlackBerry Hub App because it's useless. So, that suggestion became the new feature to be done in the incoming os update...

Not a good suggestion. Better to get the idle app in the list.

Yeah, I'll go with the OP on this. It needs to be buried DEEP somewhere with the Sim Services, Phone, and Hub icons.

I use it. If I need to check an contact, it is usually faster to use the search button.

I never used it to search something. This is crap. If I want to search something I open my browser.

But many people don't know that the so called "Search app" provides also a command line for many interesting tasks. I use it several times every day to post to Twitter. I write "tw This is a Tweed" to fire and forget a very fast Tweed. The "tw" is a command prefix. There are some more to specify what to do. I wouldn't miss this.

We're not actually looking to get rid of the Universal Search from the bottom of the screen (or launched from the keyboard on kb models). That?s VERY useful. It's the dumb icon in the app tray that we want to turf.

These "redundant" app shortcuts never used to be in bb10 they were added later I think in 10.1 or 10.2 because it helped people switching platforms who are used to using shortcuts in their app drawers.

Personally I use the text short cut even though I know it brings me right to the hub anyway. The thing is though the hub stays st the last place you put on for me that's my email so clicking on the text message "app" it brings me right where I want to be

We talked about the Search app not the search icon between the Cam & call shortcut icon. -_-
And that doesn't mean that we want to delete the whole search feature. ~_~

I would somewhat agree with all except the hub icon, I use the hub icon to lightly 'refresh' the hub when it freezes, yes you can swipe diagonal from top right but 1) I find that a difficult thing to complete, I end up either pulling in my active frame page or pulling down for the 'upcoming events'

The icon performs a light refresh that works for most things anyway,

On the whole i think all those icons are useful for people new to the OS, just have the option to 'delete'(or better yet show/hide in settings to toggle on and off) and everyone's happy..

May I suggested referring to the icons rather than the apps? Apps is short for applications that's why (I think) some individuals wrongly interpreted that you wanted the application/s themselves removed rather than just the icon...

    Oh yeah... you're right...

    It should be those icons.
Shouldn't be allowed, but necessary for new users.

Never thought that one could start a thread about this silly icon.

I have an "unused" folder containing all these icons, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Games, StoryMaker, Hub, Telephone, Camera and all this, about 20 or so. I never see these icons. Where's the problem?

The thing is very few people understand how useful the search app can be and it's super underused.
You can literally do all major functions through the serach app. You can update your twitter status even faster than through the hub and it's usually quicker to call from the search app than filter through all your contacts.
