Well, I put the Vodafone UK SIM into a Passport, and it didn't update like the Q10 did, so I guess it's still a rolling update from Vodafone's perspective also.

That's a pity. Hope they release it for your Passport soon.
My wife has an unlocked Z10 on EE's Network which was originally locked to VodaFone.

So, I'll try the Vodafone prepaid card in it.

Having updated the Z30, we tried the same Vodafone UK payg sim trick in our factory unlocked Q10. Again the update showed up almost immediately.

Due to insufficient memory for 1.5Gb download we aborted the update until having a chance to free up some space, in the meantime we put the giffgaff sim back in.

The phone still recognised the update and downloaded it and installed it successfully without any further use of the Vodafone sim.

So it seems once the phone is aware of the update the sim card used doesn't matter.

If you have a Z10 this option is avaliable I think...would be very strange if there isn't that option on the z10 ...I don't ever noticed when I used it

Hey, there is a misunderstanding between us. I know that I can disable automatic software update, but I want to turn off the notification about that...As I don't want to loose old facebook app with hub and twitter with trends, I won't update. But I can live with this notifications...
