Does anyone know if the BlackBerry news app from os7 will make its way to the z10? That is the only thing that seems to be missing from this phone.

Also, can anyone recommend a good rss reader for the z10?

Due to the lack of BB News on the Z10, I'm also carrying my 9800 around. I hope it comes out soon. I can't find a decent replacement.

Woah they have BB news on the playbook but not the Z10? That doesn't make any sense. I use it on my 9900 as well. When I'm out and about I like to have my news feeds.

The Daily is good. Plugs into Google Reader, but dev says they're looking at moving to feedly.

Ditto. I would like to see BlackBerry News on my Z10 too. It couldn't be difficult to port. Perhaps, it is low in the priority queue.

This is the only thing I miss about my os7 device. I have wasted a lot of money attempting to find a replacement but haven't been happy with any of the alternatives and I am pretty sure I've tried them all: free, paid, and side loaded. But I'm not really a fan of BlackBerry mews om the PlayBook either because it shares what I dislike about most of the alternatives: a large amount of images, making it load slower and consume more data. The best alternatives I have used are: FLUD and flipboard, both side loads available from goodereader

Me too. I use it quite a bit actually. Hopefully we'll have it soon for BlackBerry 10.

Yea. I plan to side load flip board since I have it on my iPad as well. However I do love the simplicity of BlackBerry news and wish they would just make the same thing for bb10.

Thank you all for your help.

From what I recall from Michael Clewley's tweet, BB News has reached EOL and BB won't be making it for BB10

What?! This was and still is my most frequently used app on my PlayBook. I've been using it since it was called Viigo on OS5 (before RIM acquired them and turned it into BlackBerry News). I was really looking forward to seeing what BlackBerry had in store for the BB10 version. I was hoping for full Hub integration and / or a more BlinkFeed / FlipBoard styled GUI. They could have done so much with it. I'm really disturbed by this move - and fear it's part of a wider 'slimming' down of their development efforts (outside of the core OS).

Surely it can't be that hard for them to just port the PlayBook version? There's got to be something we can do to get it on BB10?

I'm open to ideas if anyone else is interested...

It seems like BlackBerry News has a cult following of sorts. There are a few of us who swear by it, and if you're like me, it was one of the 4 or 5 apps on your main row of apps on your OS7 device. It was the first app I opened when I woke up, to be honest.

Come on BlackBerry, throw something together as basic as it is on BB7, and give it to us!

I've also missed this app. Haven't been able to find a reader that I like on the Z10.

I second that! Surely there must be a third party native app coming soon....

I doubt BlackBerry will create their own RSS aggregator when there are so many third party options out there. I use "Sparse RSS" at the moment.

Well, BB needs to focus their efforts on other things. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but BB had to slim staff down to survive, and a rss reader is probably not in the list of priorities at the moment. I think it's an area that BB expects third parties to fill in. For instance, if Feedly makes it onto bb10, then it should be alright.

EOL? It's one of my favorite applications. BlackBerry should definitely push it out for BB10.

Yea I'd think it shouldn't be too hard to just modify the playbook one at least. I really did love the news app. Went from Viigo to BlackBerry News, and was completely stoked that all my feeds appeared on my playbook because of the BBID.

I guess since I used it to scan Crackberry feeds mostly in the morning, I can just use the CB app (beautiful app), but there are plenty of others as well; I even subscribed to BGR just to annoy myself. :-P

I used BB News daily also and was hoping it would hit the Z10 sooner than later. For now I've been able to find nothing that fits the bill. So for now I guess it stays on the Playbook and I'll drag that out when I need my news fix. If they ditched it coming to OS10, hopefully a viable replacement will be released soon.
