I apologize if this has been covered elsewhere, but I couldn't find anything significant. I'm wondering if this is just me, or if others have found this also. Since updating to 10.1 on my Z10 (official and leaks), I've found Blackberry Maps ETA to be WAY off. Depending on the length of the trip, it can be up to 40-50% off the actual time it takes. For me at least, it always estimates way too much time compared to what it actually takes. It's at the point that I don't even use Blackberry Maps any more as I can't rely on the ETA to properly plan a trip. I have started using Waze almost exclusively as it's ETAs are very accurate. Has anyone else found this? I've tried with traffic on, traffic off, it doesn't seem to matter. I hope Blackberry can fix this as I use to love Maps when I first got my Z10. Thanks for any input.

Map still weak. Takes forever to lock. Don?t see much improvement.

I found the opposite. ETA was improved after 10.1, tested under heavy traffic conditions.

I gave up on bb maps after I started using waze. Still waiting for someone to give me a reason to switch back.

I use Waze quite a lot too. The only reason I can think of to use BB Maps is the fact that you can invoke it from Contacts or Calendar, and from Foursquare for local search.

I've used BB Maps a alot lately. I personally like it. My last business trip, I left the Garmen at home, and relied on my Z10 using the Maps app. Worked beyond perfectly for me. Found ETA to be spot on, easy to find address, and the random search function has never let me down.

Sorry some folks are having issues, but for what I need it for (a GPS), it has been awesome

Hmmm, maybe it's my device...or my routes then. I'm about to install the latest leak (2009), so maybe I'll delete Maps and install it cleanly from the leak. See if that makes a difference. I'd really much prefer to use Blackberry Maps, but I need reliable and reasonably accurate ETAs. Thanks for the feedback.

*Edit* Apparently you can't delete Maps! Oh well, I'll keep trying it....maybe it will get better with time

A caveat though when using Foursquare with BB maps: if Foursquare only shows the location on its map and does not show the address, when you have it open BB Maps for navigation, it will try to take you somewhere else. In my case, I live in Winnipeg, and when I searched an auditorium on FourSquare, when it linked to BB Maps, it wanted to take me to city hall, which I think might be the default if it only knows the address as being the city.

The ability to select X app into the OS should be the direction they (BlackBerry) need to take. I understand all companies including BB want to maximise/commercialise their portfolio of software applications. No matter how good or bad.

Give the customer/consumer choice and they will be loyal. BB will sell more devices as well.

My ETAs aren't accurate anymore either. It says longer than it is.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about. Same start, same destination, same route, same time of day. VERY different ETAs!

It is any way I can set Waze as the default navigator for the passport?
