Just wondering if I should update to Windows 8.1, or will it cause issues with Blackberry Link?
Thanks!
I use 8.1 on my surface Pro 2 and it works great with link
I would strongly urge you not to install Link using 8.1! I have a new PC, clean OS 8.1 and it has crashed hard three times...leaving me with bits and pieces of the app that I have to manually go in a delete. Even tried reinstalling 8.1 fresh again, and loaded Link as the first app and BSOD, then total crash.... Reading other posts around, it seems this is a common issue. I'm waiting to hear from BB that they have updated Link to be compatible with 8.1...until then, I'm VERY careful with my Z10!!!
I have a 4-year old HP laptop, and every version of BlackBerry Link has worked fine (no crashes) for me on Windows 8, Windows 8.1 Preview, and the final release of Windows 8.1 (all 64-bit versions). Some people seem to have problems, but I don't.
I can't even install windows 8.1, every time I try it says an error has occurred and restores my os to 8 :p Good old windows :/

Initially I had BSOD problems with Windows 8 and early versions of link, but I haven't had any issues with more recent versions and 8 or 8.1.

It perfectly works. I haven't experienced a single issue.

Just a thought for those having problems with Link (and other software installations). Disable your anti-virus momentarily. Then try again. Nine times out of ten this has worked for me. In fact, I need to disable it just to use Link. I use Kaspersky Internet Security and sometimes wonder why. Oh, I have Windows 8.1 as well.
I had problems with the 8.1 preview with my surface pro, the final copy of 8.1 works well

I had Windows 7 and upgraded to Windows 8 (Not fresh install), for some time I was disgusted by how Link was functioning and was thinking that how can a company like BB fail to make a proper application.
I was not happy with my OS so I did fresh installation of Windows 8 and then installed Link, and wow I couldn't believe how much difference it has.
So, my experience I had very bad experience (Upgrading) from Windows 7 to 8 but a fresh install of Windows 8 is sweet.
Works great on Windows 8.1. Link used to crash all the time on Windows 7 and Windows 8. Even remote file access finally works flawlessly.
