My Windows XP laptop is nearing the end of it life so I will have to replace it very shortly.

Can anyone advise me which Microsoft OS I should go for as I want to be sure (or as sure as possible) that BlackBerry Link will work on it for me.

I have heard of problems in the past with Windows 7 and 8 so I am wondering if anyone knows if these problems have been resolved with later versions of Link.

Windows 8 causes the most problems with link. Which is why I run windows 7 in VM and link installed in VM

I haven't had any problems with link on Win8. Then again, I only used it once, to transfer my stuff from my bold.

I think it mostly comes down to if you can adapt to the changes Microsoft made in Windows 8. There is a major update coming out in the next few months that will make Win 8 easier to use for desktops/laptops If that helps.

Link I'd kind of useless now with Sachesi doing everything it does and more. I wouldn't worry too much about it and get Windows 8.

I regularly work with PCs running Win 7, Win 8, and (my main personal system) the Win 8.1 preview. Not seeing any issues with link on any of them.

Trust me... you are better off sticking to windows 7 and save yourself the head aches.... unless you plan on buying a touch screen pc then go for win8

Many thanks for your comments. It would appear from your comments that Link should work now with both OS now which is good to know.

The only computer on which I can reliably make backups through Link, is a 5 year old one, running Vista 32 bit and standing under the desk of a friend of mine.

So, actually I would have to recommend you Vista and I swear, I am not trolling you.

Definitely go for Windows 8. Everything BlackBerry does is immiedatly made for Windows 8 so there's no problem on that end. Plus, a big FREE update is coming for Windows 8.1 the 18th of October so get onto it ! Even without a touch screen, Windows 8 is better. Plus, new. is. always. better.
