    Thank you freakinvibe.
I had both of the issues you listed (in your BlackBerry Forum posting) and found your solution worked for me on Windows 7 64-bit.

Fortunately, I had no "deep" love for iTunes (in support of my iPad Air).
BB Link is now back synchronizing my Z30 with MS Outlook 2007 (via USB).
I also reinstalled BB Blend and it works fine as well (via wireless).

Since BB Link and BB USB drivers had been working in parallel with iTunes before the September 13 Windows Update, I hope BB will work with Microsoft to track down the introduced incompatibility.

I had a different issue yesterday, I am using both win7 and win10. was not able to download x.2876 on my laptop which is on win10, I tried with win7 with desktop. I had to un plug the device for call, and win7 stop detecting the phone, even win10 also. Re-installing link in win7 was same. I just removed both win7 and win10 from device connections, restarted the device and now both win7 and win10 is properly working.

I had tried uninstalling & reinstalling blackberry 10 desktop software (link + drivers only) multiple times without any luck. It always crashed. After reading this thread, I tried 2 new things which currently has blackberry link running again:
    1. uninstalled iTunes
    2. Did a silent install of bb link.

Here are the steps I followed:

    I used ccleaner to uninstall:
    - iTunes
    - Blackberry 10 Desktop Software

I went to these folders and deleted any folders with 'Blackberry', 'Research In Motion', 'Apple', 'Apple Computer' or 'iTunes'
Warning! This will delete settings and programs. You will lose your iTunes library & more, so be careful!
    C:\ProgramData\
    C:\Users\<userid>\AppData\Local\
    C:\Users\<userid>\AppData\LocalLow\
    C:\Users\<userid>\AppData\Roaming\
    C:\Users\<userid>\Music

In ccleaner, under 'Registry' I scanned an fixed any issues.
In ccleaner, under 'Cleaner', I did "Run Cleaner".

I made sure my blackberry was disconnected from PC

    I restarted the PC.

In ccleaner, under 'Registry' I scanned an fixed any issues (again).
In ccleaner, under 'Cleaner', I did "Run Cleaner" (again).

I did a quiet/silent install of just blackberry link and drivers using BlackBerryDesktopSoftware_1.2.0.52_B59.exe as per: How to install BlackBerry Link without installing BlackBerry Blend using silent install

Waited about 5 minutes and noticed blackberry link shortcut on desktop.

Started up blackberry link and it doesn't crash.

Connected blackberry 10 phone and it is recognized by Blackberry Link. I lost all settings though. Still works after restarting computer.
I followed most of these steps here and got my Link working again. Thanks a lot.

If you are on Windows 7, don't update iTunes to the current 12.5.1. For me, that's the event that caused BlackBerry Link to stop working.

How do you "execute" BlackBerry Desktop Software with the added /i /passive-installLink? Is there somewhere to type in the extension?

Success I did a Windows 10 reset and all is working again, I am now so relieved but I must confirm that this happened with the last windows update two days ago!!!!! So windows reset keeping your files will work.
    Hi

What do you mean by 'Windows reset'? Did you roll back to previous version of W10?

I followed all of the advice offered on here - but none worked.

Rolled back Windows 10 update. Hah! That lasted until the next reboot.
Uninstalled iTunes, and anything to do with Apple (inc. Bonjour), but BB Desktop Software would not uninstall - even after reboot.

I'm not going to re-install Windows (it'll be the very reliable, won't force upgrade Windows 8.1 ), as that'll be just a case of the tail wagging the dog, so it's adios, BB LInk and Blend.

8.1 is awesome. I have bought 8.1 to avoid Windows 10.

Find Command Prompt icon (type 'cmd' in search).
Right click on "Command Prompt" and select 'Run as administrator'
Navigate using "cd" (change directory) commands to get to the directory where you downloaded 'BlackBerryDesktopSoftware_1.2.0.52_B59.exe'
    Then type the command line

I forgot to mention that after following all my steps I was able to reinstall iTunes and all seems to be working okay. Except contact sync via bb link keeps taking forever, but I've got over 4000 contacts

    Hi All,

I'm not quite sure how to complete a silent install of blackberry link.
I assume a download the software and save it some where. What do I then need to do once I have opened the Command Prompt?
Do I just type in the command?

Excellent for those who have iTunes, but doesn't address the users who don't. There's something deeper going on. I got device manager to connect again, Link opens, but all attempts at a backup fail.

I had the same problem on Windows 7 and finally i found solution, Ive uninstalled BB Link, then deleted all files in computer connected previously to BB Link, they are located in hard drive in this folders:

C:\Users"folder with your user name"\AppData\Local\Research in Motion
C:\Users"folder with your user name"\AppData\Roaming\Research in Motion

Then Installed BB Link again and now it works again.

Changing the ITunes file name solved all of my problems. Link opened again and was able to do a full backup and then sync calendar and contacts with Outlook on my laptop.
