    Hi all,
I'd like to have some input from BlackBerry users who have used several devices, on the quality of each one's reception, and how they would compare to other brands devices (iphone, SG4, etc.)
There is a thread in the Classic section where several users complain about it having poor reception.
I feel my Q10 has decent reception but have never compared it to any other device.
I would like to know because for those of us looking to upgrade, this is a very important piece of information to have.

Certainly each device is expected to get great reception but there's always a lemon out there no matter if it's BlackBerry Android or iPhone...

That said, so many variables can impact reception regardless if it's DATA or VOICE. Location, bandwidth, frequencies, carrier, buildings, population densities, roaming and even the suns rays.

I've owned countless number of smartphone including the Q10 a didn't have any issues, yet my iPhone 5 and 6 both constantly have poor coverage issues as compared to my other devices (not because I'm a fanboy, honest)

I've suggested in the past for my clients to drop their coverage from LTE to HSpA+....good luck!

Also, report the issues to your carrier. If enoughh people complain they typically will tweek the signal in some fashion

i'd say.. comparing against their BB10 counterparts, the reception is almost similar among the Paratek tuned phones: the Z30/the Classic/the Passport, but just the Z30 wins by just a bit, not too sure why but i feel that the Z30 does better, that's all. not sure with the SE Passport, perhaps the new body structure and the improved antenna area really does make the difference?

I have great reception with the Classic. I have Verizon, in a bigger city with lots of coverage tho. Always had great reception with the Z10 and even the S4. Where I work however is another story, in the middle of Downtown with giant buildings and lots of people with cell phones, sometimes signal drops to 3G, was worse with the S4 as the phone wouldn't receive signal at all.
So it completely depends on your carrier and if your signal is obstructed by giant old buildings.

Obviously. But it also depends on the phone. That's kind of what my question was about. I've heard a lot of good about the Z30's reception.

You wouldn't believe how not obvious that is to some people lol. Like I said the Classic and Z10 always gave me great service. BlackBerry has always been known for that. Their phones are communication elite, so the question isn't even warranted to be honest.

Ok, cool. I just saw a thread about a Classic having bad reception, although it must be for a different reason, so I just thought I'd ask around and gather input from different users.

Questions like this certainly spark a lot of debate. All BlackBerry 10 devices have good signal, I doubt there day that any cell phone manufacturer would make a device with bad signal.

That being said, the Passport Silver Edition & BlackBerry Classic have very nice reception

I just got my Passport SE. The signal quality seems to be a little better than my Z30 and the calls seem clearer but I don't know if that is from better signal or earpiece.

All I can add is that I seem to get a better signal on the Z10 than on the Q5.

In my experience believe it or not, the Q5. Yes it's one of the "lower end" BB10 devices but I was amazed the other day when on a subway platform my sister was able to text and receive messages whilst I stood there with no signal at all on my Z30.

Not gonna lie, my girlfriend's Q5 has great reception. She's had coverage on the train while I sat there with no signal on my Z10, Z30, and even the Passport. I'm on Rogers and she's on Koodo, though, so I'm not sure if the deciding factor here is the phones or the carriers.

Well in my case were both Rogers so I don't think it's the carriers. Maybe the Q5 is better optimized than the Z30 etc and their Paratek Antennas.

Having compared the Q10, Z30, Passport and Classic, I would say that the Z30 has the best reception & the Classic the worse. The Classic does have better LTE reception than the Z30 though....

Perhaps it also depends on the frequencies being used. I find that with Wind Canada, the Z10 seems a bit more solid.

Wind is great. I'm on Rogers with mainly a Passport as of late and a friend is on Wind with a Z30 and sometimes he gets reception where I don't. I've been tempted to switch for the much lower price and unlimited data, as it should be. I don't get the hatred toward Wind.

I think it's the lack LTE and limited coverage overall.

Wind definitely is not up to par with Rogers in terms of speed or coverage, but the peace of mind that comes with never having to worry about data, or time of day... I just can't go back to one of the big three. The price difference makes up for any minor inconveniences.

The people who hate on Wind? My guess is they either live in areas with poor coverage, or simply think $70 a month is normal.

Z30 picks up signals much better in 900/1800 MHz bands... I noticed that it just falls a little behind in comparison to Z10 in 3G band here (2100MHz).

Don't have 4G yet to compare... and this is just based on random observations... not scientifically tested :P
