Here's just a random thing that's been bothering my mind and I can't figure it out so I'm bringing it here!

If you look at the following picture, it shows I've got 1.6GB free, yet when I add it all up, it only adds up to 966MB..

it doesn't make sense to me, it's even including system which is what I would have guessed the rest would be!

The memory used is in constant fluctuation. I don't think you'd ever be able to add it up perfectly. I don't even see your browser.

Edit - BTW you have tons free, so there's certainly nothing to worry about.

When my browser is closed it doesn't take any memory.. it isn't there now either :\

And the memory thing actually is an issue if I run say, CoD Heroes or something resource intensive as they use 1GB alone just running idle!

I'm constantly getting notifications that memory is below 400mb from Home Screen Plus and annoying things like that (enough I disabled that memory notification altogether!) when I play those types of games...

So this is why I'm curious where the other ~400-600mb of memory disappeared off to :/

Why does the passport use soooo much more RAM than the other OS10 devices? My Z30 would be in a deficit from some of those screen shots.

While that does make sense and will take up more RAM, they still show up in the list of applications... The only ones I have allowed (aside from the usual of BBM, FB, etc) are HUB++ and Home Screen Plus...

Still 600mb of missing RAM somewhere :\

Some of the additional RAM used vs Q/Z would have to be the keyboard.

BlackBerry should seriously consider hiding that memory usage screen... it makes people worried for nothing.

STOP stressing yourself about RAM usage! It fluctuated constantly. When was the last time your checked the RAM usage on your computer??? I don't even know where to check

I don't even remember the last time I checked my usage on the Z30.

Lol you really don't get our worries then. The issue is that I AM running out of RAM and the BlackBerry Operating system is automatically closing apps when it runs out of space.

The reason we don't check RAM on computers anymore is because we've got so much it's ridiculous and the only way we could ever hit the max is when a memory leak occurs, which is easily fixable.

The point is that say, on a windows or Linux machine, I can easily see which apps are using what memory and it adds up correctly.

My issue is that there is 600mb of unaccounted memory that's causing issues I shouldn't have to deal with..

Ever had Firefox leak 5gb of memory? Oh its fun. I check my memory all the time when weird stuff starts to happen.

Lesson learned: Firefox does not like 100+ tabs open for over a week with lots of YouTube.

But otherwise I agree with your post. BB10 definitely leaks memory sometimes and goes into limp mode where it's about as responsive as a dead rat. Not often for me but it has happened with a messed up OS. Security wiped and reload fixes it.

Blitz screwed up my last OS.
