Spent the day at the Metro Centre, one of Europe's largest shopping centres. Tried to get a hands on look at both the Passport and Classic as my Z10 is out if contract in a few weeks.
Sadly after visiting EVERY mobile shop in the centre I didn't get a look at either. None had any BlackBerry phones - at all!

How are people going to upgrade or even choose BlackBerry for their first time if they can't even see a physical device before they buy?

I couldn't do that. Even though my Z10 is my 3rd BlackBerry and have been with them almost 7 years. A new phone is still a 'considered purchase ' for me. Particularly as you're tied in to at least a 24 month contract with most UK carriers.
Let me pick the phone up and have a feel before I decide, is that too much to ask?

of course not too much to ask. today, tho, the carrier do not want to stock up on BB's device.

You need to ask to your provider why.

And that is why a lot of people started to buy directly through shopBB or amazon for unlock factory phone. No more waiting for carrier

Alain is right plus if your contract is up in a couple of weeks then you won't be tied to a long contract any more, just put your sim into a new unlocked device and keep paying your bill, the service will be the same but you can terminate at any time,

'Spose I could do that, though I'd have the initial outlay of the whole phone at the beginning instead of spread across the contract. Gonna go away and think about it. Cheers guys.

Simple. Most people are going to update to a different device.
