I believe Cortana does this through "Quiet hours".

If so,I haven't figured out how to do it yet.

Well, wasn't really talking about BB marketing, I know better than to expect that, lol. Meant how come I didn't hear anything about it being improved by other members here until now. :-D

What the hell... when did it become this quick?
It's working great in the random tests I did. I must try using it tomorrow, if I remember.

Launched it several times by accident and closed it immediately. Guess I should try it. Is there any guide on it?

I like to use it to set alarms and make quick notes or tasks and that's about it. First thing I do is turn off voice response, I don't want it to read back to me what's on screen.

You can search the Web as well like "Search Amazon for unlocked Priv" ... ok you can't do that cause it doesn't understand the word Priv but you can search for Passport

Just don't expect it to go deep into the app features like you can't tell it to make a list of things if you want to create a new note with the list inside and stuff like that.

    Just keep it simple.

I'd be happy if BA would actually just read the answer back to me. This bug in 10.3.2 is annoying. Sometimes it works, sometimes it gives me the silent treatment.

I haven't tested BBA in a while, but last time I checked, it was unable to do one simple thing that I wish it could master:

"Silence (or mute) phone for X hours (or until N o'clock, or whatever)." This would be so handy, but it can't do it.

Neither can OK Google or Cortana. I don't know about Siri.
Not to derail the thread, but I use this on my BlackBerry 10 phones. Pretty useful.

I believe if you talk to it, it will talk back, but if you type your question it will respond in text. Something like that.

Funny thing, I found that if you ask Google Now through an Android device and also if you type (instead of speak) the question to BB Assistant if it is Skynet, they give the same answer. But if you speak the question to BB Assistant it gives a unique answer...

Android and typed to BB Assistant gives an answer straight from Wolfram Alpha (including the date Wolfram Alpha publicly launched and everything), while spoken to BB Assistant gives a unique answer, odd...

Depends on its mood. Try changing the language on BlackBerry Assistant setting from US English to UK (or vice versa) then restart. Then switch back. It'll should work for a bit then it won't. Some bug in 10.3.2.

I use bQuiet, which works well enough, but I still think a voice assistant ought to be able to handle this basic task.

It's as annoying as hell, in so far as you ask it to dial a phone number using a person's name for you and it rambles off the phone number (I already know the phone number! You stupid twit!) and then proceeds to tell you that you should have said which number (mobile, home, office) you wanted to dial.

That's only if it understands the name you've spoken to it. Otherwise it becomes something like an Abbot and Costello routine, only it's lame and frustrating, instead of funny as it rattles off names that aren't even remotely close to what you said.
