I'm going to go out on a limb and say that BlackBerry will make a great comback in 2018 with BlackBerry 12 OS running Android apps on there own operating system with advanced swipe gesture system and a much improved Hub for non stop productivity and of course Google Play services and all its glory..

I agree in principle, but not the tone.

I think the market has spoken and BB10 is not ever going to be a consumer choice for an OS, largely because of the lack of external apps and major platform support (Google Play, Facebook, Whatsapp etc.). However, JC believes certain regulated markets will continue to want a highly secure platform that intentionally does NOT allow these application to work. One unfortunate consequence of this strategy is relatively low volumes and niche markets which may not be ultimately financially viable. I suspect we may see BB temporarily remove themselves from the handset market but rejoin later when the market shifts away from an entertainment centric focus and the perception that application tonnage is mandatory requirement.

I further believe that with all the platform consolidation going on, eventually consumers are going to want an alternative to a heavily facilitated (and expensive) experience and look for an OS that has a more back-to-basics approach. If the regulated market can maintain enough volume and the app craze diminishes, BB10 might have a chance.

In all scenario's BB10 has a tough road ahead which is why it's key for BB to continue to diversify away from handsets and look to other products and markets to make money.
