That is my point. Read the post...

I understand your point, but I just think your definition of "important" is a little strict.

I don't, but if someone was using Facebook an hour a day to keep up with friends, I have no objection to that person feeling the app was important to them.

My comment was based on a post where it was commented that 1.8 billion users think it was important. My generalisation was based on that comment. There will always be users who believe Facebook is important, and to them It is. The face that so many use it doesn't make it important. It makes it popular.

But, to the rest of the world's population (which is a larger number) it isn't important at all.

Sure, but it still is important to a lot of people. Which you simply dismiss because it isn't important to you, personally.

    That's an entirely different discussion.

I'm fairly confident that the number of people who are as dependent on Facebook (1.5%? 2%?) as the OP outnumber the remaining BlackBerry user base (20 million).

I don't use Facebook, and while it can be used as an effective tool, there are many other tools that can do the same function just as well as Facebook, or even better.

An excellent point. And to the point of OP, whether it is FB or Snapchat or Uber, we know that in today's world, a large app ecosystem, with popular apps, is of paramount importance. BlackBerry themselves knew this, which is why pushed so hard for so many apps prior to BlackBerry 10 launch.

I think there are a few options available now jus look into your BlackBerry World and look for face10 or Facebook light and some others I've come across being mentioned in CrackBerry forums too. All the best.

Oh, but I can dismiss it because it is of no use for me.

My point is that it is not important in the true definition of the word. It is (as another person here stated) simply popular (in a similar way that the Beatles were popular ... way back when).
