Depends on your definition of dying really. Some people are perfectly happy with their devices as they are and require very few of the apps you speak of while others believe without the continuation of apps, the platform is dead. There is no real answer here. All depends on what your use cases are and how you feel about it.

Two security patches is all they have promised....

So between outdated tools for developers and a shrinking userbase due to sale being so low compared with when BB10 launched. Why would a developer not making money stick with BB10? A few like Nemory are taking advantage of the situation and making money, but the developers that rely on new users for their apps (utilities)... not so much.

It depends on what you mean by "dying". Lots of threads with lots of existential philosophy on this subject. Maybe worth reading.

This is a very controversial topic. BB10's upcoming updates (10.3.3 and 10.4) won't include any new features, only security and minor bug fixes. If there's are any updates post 10.4, who knows...

People have so many definitions of dead. For some people BB10 won't be dead until every single BB10 phone ever created has been recycled or buried in a landfill. Anything short of that means BB10 is alive. Like WebOS is alive. And Apple DOS is alive (mine still runs for example)

    Maybe probabilities make more sense.

I think the probability that BB EOL's BB10 before Google EOL's Android is nearly 1. So close to 1 that it doesn't matter that it isn't exactly 1.

Same for the probability that BB10 is EOL'd before iOS is.

The probability that someone (anyone) makes a new phone running BB10 is negligible.

BB10 will die unless BlackBerry bring out new devices because when it comes to getting a new phone "and we all do eventually" we'll have to choice but to buy a different platform.

You just can't expect an individual to buy into an OS when the owner simply doesn't.

If no new features are planned and only security updates will be released, it's a dead OS in my book because it has no future. A dead OS that I love like crazy... but still a dead OS. For those that disagree with me let's just say that it's as dead or alive as MS DOS.

When they missed the (first) deadline on 10.3.3, and announced two new Android devices after Priv... I started shopping around for a one. Faltering support, faltering development, faltering sales....all related. Not to mention it's just too damn depressing.

BB10 is following the path of BBOS7. My sister still rocks one, but for the modern smartphone user it will be lacking the app support with each day it gets older

    "Is BlackBerry 10 dying?"

There's an undeniable amount of signs that point to death, but remember this: until John Chen announces that OS 10 will no longer be supported, then we can finally say that it died. The physical phones will remain functional for calls and texts for years onward though. Ignore trolls and dramatic FUD spreaders.
