Which BlackBerry 10 device are you still using in 2020 and why?
- I got back to BlackBerry after the Classic 3 years ago. Im sick of android and ios and those social media apps, they wasted all of my free time. I know the habbit to use a phone is important, but I rather to choose to stay away from those smartphones.
My first week with PPSE was quite difficult because there was no apps that I always needed on smartphones such as google maps or bank apps. In week 2 everything seems to be more comfortable since I got some apps in replacement. I got my own solution for those I cannot use as on smartphones, for example I need to bring my cards with me all the time in stead of using Samsung Pay or Apple Pay. Now Im happy. I use the PPSE as my main phone, and the Note9 as the second (Im a Uber driver so I always need it for work, but other than that, my daily life is good enough with BB).
Posted via CB1006-28-20 03:41 PMLike 0 - Too easy to reinstall. I have tried many ways but did not work, at least for me. As a result, I decided to go back to what prevent me to access to those apps easily. Also,3 years ago with the Classic was the time that I gain the most in productivity/achievement.06-28-20 03:49 PMLike 0

- Sometimes you don't have choice, but compromise. In my case, I need an android for my work. Other than that, I know Im happy with the PPSE.06-28-20 05:30 PMLike 0

- I'm using a passport silver edition mainly because it's a tank and I'm impressed everytime I hold it in my hand.
I'm so used to the key2 qwerty, that the typing experience on the passport is awkward....And sometimes impossible with one hand.
I have over 10 email accounts on it now. And the HUB is indispensable!
Too bad the native browser is almost unusable. I always try opening links (mostly UPS or Canada Post) and usually fail.
Cannot wait until one of you figure out how to disable the native browser so all links open in something else!!
My father also uses a q10 - mainly due to the form size and the qwerty. He'll never be able to type on a slab due to his shakey hands.
Once the q10 dies, I don't know what I'll do......likely hunt down a white white/gold q10 or a white classic.

Can't recall if I use browser or the app, but no problem tracking Canada Post. Do not recall any problems getting at my UPS deliveries either, web site loads just fine06-28-20 10:41 PMLike 0 -
In my experience overall, the browser performance does suck now on BB10 for lots of sites, and also often for certificate issues. Overall, the Internet has moved to a more complicated approach for how it serves up web pages and content and objects. All about that "better web experience" I think, but for most of my needs the "better web experience" is actually a load of crap and is more about sites trying to get from you what they want as opposed to users trying to get from the web what the user wants.
Posted via CB10 on Z1006-29-20 09:42 AMLike 0 - There was another thread on here somewhere a while back that also talked about some of this. A guy basically got rid of all native or Android ports for apps on his BB10 device and went the browser only approach mobile version for all of them. Then, he adjusted his account settings for each of the services separately to get email notifications for things like new posts, requests for replies, update posts, etc..., with the concept that such is how he achieves integration with those services and for with BB10 hub. I am basically following that concept for FB with my Z10 and it works for me. I can normally quickly tell from the email notification content if I want to open up the site or just delete the email and ignore. For FB, the browser site (x.facebook.com) even let's me get access to the messenger chats, messages and groups, directly from following a link in the email without needing the separate messenger app.

But look at what people do to kick other additions....06-29-20 02:27 PMLike 0 - You have to understand addiction and what it can do to a select group of individuals. I'm not entirely sure of the numbers but when I took classes years ago, I remember my prof telling the class that around 20% of the population is estimated to have an "addiction personality". This population is, predictably, extremely likely to become addicted to a drug or life habit very easily. We were discussing this tendency with opiates in general but he said it could apply to almost any type of self-harm behaviour. Well, now we know that there is an addictive component to cell phone use as well but the vast majority of people can control these urgings. Some however cannot. And these are the people who may actually be better off with a so-called dumbphone.06-29-20 02:50 PMLike 0

- In some cases, yes. Many apps (and websites), especially social media apps such as FB, Twitter, Snapchat and my personal hell, Reddit, are designed specifically to keep people scrolling/liking/ etc so that your brain does not have time to catch up with your impulses.06-29-20 04:35 PMLike 0

Posted via CB1006-30-20 11:29 AMLike 0 - I am not sure, and they are not excuses at all. Everyone has their own way using stuff. You and me are different. After 2 weeks with social media I feel my life easier, lighter, and happier, so I could say it works to me. Then why do I need to excuse? I'm kinda a guy that is addicted to Facebook. Simply say I enjoy those social media apps TOO much! And there are people like me out there having the same problem. Now on passport I dont use it at all. I pay more attention to life, to work, to things that more important. I know what I do is good for me. Cheers.

But are you never tempted to use the browser to look at Facebook or other social media... I know it's not as good, and has limitations, but it does allow you to at least see what's going on. If someone really needs to go cold turkey... a real dumb phone might be a better solution than a BB10 device.06-30-20 11:52 AMLike 0 - But are you never tempted to use the browser to look at Facebook or other social media... - I hear you. But I dont think you're fully understood what my situation is.
Yes, sometimes I use facebook on Passport, but you know how hard it is, I just spend 2 or 3 minute looking around the Marketplace (I'm a selling guy too) and the newsfeed, then shut it down. Way faster than before and I don't feel facebook attracted me anymore. Is it not good? Yeah man I'm millenniel and it's impossible to live 100% without internet, I also have my needs to use other apps for my convenience such as maps, music, and keep connecting via messenger and whatsapp. That's how I want to use a smartphone. On a Note I easily reinstall any apps that I miss (mainly because nothing prevents me to download them). 5 hours a day spent on social media and now cut off to 5 minutes, I have nothing to complain about. If it's easy for you doesn't mean it's the same to others.
