I'm not technically well versed as Omnitech, but based on what I've read, it's more so of a hybrid between 3G and 4G. There's plenty of material to read on this subject if you Google it.

    STL100-3 / 10.1.0.4828
That's right, as to an end user there's not really a noticeable speed difference between DC 3G (evolved 3G technology), and LTE SAE 4G (basic 4G technology) that exists today.

Kris, thanks a lot man and thanks to the Team for not moving totally away from 10.1
So far I'm loving this os on this phone more and more with every new leak release. Might not be as spectacular looks-wise and features-wise as 10.2, but for me it's just perfect and omni-satisfactory.
Gee.. this phone has been getting more hands from me than all previous ones together..

All the information you wanted but were afraid to ask:
    ....
3G refers to the third generation. These terms now apply primarily to data transmission schemes, not voice. Examples: EDGE and UMTS (for GSM networks), EVDO. (for CDMA networks)
    ....
Small thing, but EDGE was under GSM's 2G designation. I had a Pearl 8100 for 3 years and it was EDGE - not a 3G phone. You couldn't get BIS to work unless you had EDGE. GPRS wasn't good enough, though fine for AT&T MediaNET data - data not going through BlackBerry (at least that was my experience).

    I didn't get 3G until I got my Torch 9800 (with UMTS).

I remember when the BIS went down, my Pearl was basically dead - nothing worked (except the phone and SMS, of course). At least on the Torch, I could still use the browser and some other data using apps, but only over wi-fi (which my Pearl didn't have).

I am glad that's not an issue anymore with my Z10. Now I'm totally at AT&Ts mercy. Hope we don't get another hurricane here in South Louisiana. These towers cut out quick in a storm.

Thanks leak team...had 10.2.0.1323 for a while, but every couple of hours my data connection would stop working. only a reboot would fix it. Tried wiping, reloading etc. to no avail.

All been good so far with this leak. Missing some of the 10.2 features but prefer a reliable phone.

Those are areas where it gets a little fuzzy I think. Many seem to feel that EDGE should technically be called "2.75G" (see the wikipedia article on 2G for example), but I think that's what happens when you try to shoehorn a bunch of different, constantly-evolving technologies into artificially narrow categories...

No idea, never actually ran this build, just helped build the autoloaders. I'm on 10.2.0.xxxx myself. Hopefully someone else who is running it can chime in and give you an idea of how it compares.

Tried 10.2.0.1047 for a week but the hotspot problem bugged me no end. Tried many reinstalls/wipes etc then the 1323 files on top of 1047 but hotspot would rarely work.

So finally on 10.1.0.4828 - excellent build. All my android sideloads work perfectly fine (with debug token though) so pretty happy with this.

I tried to install .4828 on my brand new Q10. I received the error "Incompatible Radio Image Loaded on Device" and then the device hung for about 5 minutes. It rebooted...and then hung on the "Incompatible Radio Image Loaded on Device" message.

    To answer the obvious questions:

    - I have an STL100-3 device
    - I loaded the STL-100-2/3 software.

    Um...help?

You loaded the wrong version. STL is Z10. SQN is Q10. Download the appropriate one, and rerun the autoloader. It'll fix it.

Only 3 pages? Wow. Looks like the leak community is 10.2 or Bust.
Yeah but 10.1 is reliable for all features if you want it to work right out the box. 10.2 you need to work on Facebook, Android Runtime, Maps, backup and restore, ghost icons, some issues with hotpot...etc.

I want 10.2, but not backed well enough for my taste...
