OK I'm downloading the 845 Bars from Thurask right now. Will make a Backup and then i try to install those on 10.2.1.641 with current 725 Bars. Will post the result here in latest 2 hours (Link is just very slow and I have a lot of data).

Q: To install the radio can I use DDPB installer. I mostly use this to install bar files but never installed a radio file and not sure.

Radio files are non destructive. If you find one with an auto loader run it just like you would any other leak.

i loaded the bar files from 10.2.1.825

Phone set and hub are the only things not working

Does anyone know the technical reason as to why older radios frequently don't work on newer OSes? How often can they change how phone calls work?

Who knows? My guess, that's intentional from BB to make those 10.2.1 versions (too unstable as a whole) to not propagate too much around usual users. Keepin those just for experimental purpose.
Just a guess again: Once it is more stabilized, PIN watermarks will vanish and we'll begin to get full OSs again.

Not sure if it'll work, but:
1) Download the sys.data.imf.ja_JP from the MEGA folder in the first post
2) Plug in phone and open Sachesi
3) Open Install tab, refresh until apps show up, drag sys.data.imf.ja_JP onto Sachesi window
4) Wait
5) Done

thanks for the suggestion Thurask, tried what you said with the Japanese language file, using Sachesi, but no luck. Hard rebooted device as well, but don't see anything showing up.

Anyone have any other ideas? BB7 allowed copying language files from different OS'es, has anyone tried that on BB10?

So i heavily played around and it took longer than 2 hours.

My Main OS was 10.2.1.641+.725 Bars.
My Device is: Z10-STL100-2
Provider/Carrier: Vodafone Germany:

tl;dr: Phone is unusable after installing the Bars. But i could restore functionality by reloading BARs from OS .641+725.
App Crash/Hang Up does not exist anymore (at least for the few Apps i tested).

Very long Story:
Start Test: Around 11:45AM GMT+1
End Test: 14:51PM GMT+1
1.) I downloaded and installed the .845 Bars (except for BBM as i use the BBM Channels Beta App).
2.) Completely Shutdown my Z10
3.) Waited 30 Seconds til it was REALLY completely shutdown
4.) Started my Z10

Result: No way to get it to work with the .845 Bars. Device is crippled. Additional Info:
1.) Working Calls: Nope. No Chance to get this to work with .845
2.) WLAN/WiFi: Works. Extreme laggy but it works.
3.) Hub: Completely Black. It showa nothing at all. Strange behaviour (had Dark Theme activated. Maybe it is completely white if you had Light Theme activated before!?).
4.) Contacts: Crash*. No way to cure this as it seems they have heavily changed some code again and tied things deeper into the core OS.
5.) Calendar: Cant open. Crash.*
6.) Try to open Phone Menu: No Crash as it just cant be opened.
7.) Browser: Crash*
*Crash = It opened and crashes immediately

Anything else:
I can open the BBM Channels Beta App but it took a while for it to show Data and Pics. As i type this, i tried to close the App and my Z got hung up. Pressing On/Off Key for Standard Restart/Shutdown did not work. Holding On/Off Key for 10 Seconds to restart Device: Works [After testing other Stuff: All Apps (even System Apps)] Crash as soon they are minimized. Edit: After 2 restarts: Settings was the only thing that did not crash].

How i get my Device working again:

Hint: Sachesi "paused" a few times on EVERY single File for a few minutes = there was no sign that it is still uploading and first i thought it has crashed <- the Percent Counter stops often up to 20 Seconds per Percent. I am sure it has nothing to do with Sachesi. Its the unusual Combination of different OS Bars obviously.

Whole time for this Operation took around 45 Minutes! Even the Upload of the little sys.clock took around 7 minutes. It seems the Backup/Restore Process had some problems as BB changed again some things in the Code heavily. They said that they make some changes to the Data Structure and how Contacts, Calendar Entrys etc. are stored in the OS/the OS Apps.

Its a wonder that Sachesi have not crashed under this heavy pressure. Hats up to xsacha!
A fantastic and solid piece of work.
[I forgot to mention: I use Sachesi 1.1 and not 1.1.1 - so i am not sure if this had make any difference. Did not know that a new Version is online til i checked 2 minutes ago...]

Ok here we go:
Try Number 1:

1.) Reloaded from .725:
a.) sys.calculator-10.2.1.6.bar
b.) sys.pim.calendar.viewer.eventcreate-10.102.2.31.bar
c.) sys.pim.calendar.viewer.ics-10.102.2.31.bar
d.) sys.pim.calendar.viewer.nav-10.102.2.31.bar
e.) sys.pim.calendar-10.102.2.31.bar
f.) sys.pim.contacts-10.5.201.30.bar
g.) sys.clock-11.20.1.15.bar
h.) sys.browser-10.2.1.65.bar

2.) Did a simple restart of my Z (per "Hold the On/Off Key for 3 Seconds")

Result Number 1:
A.) Calendar: Shows empty at first -> took 5 seconds to "synchronize" with it self and voila all entrys are back.
B.) Clock: Can open it and all Alarms are there but as soon as i minimize the App -> Crash/Hang up
C.) Contacts: I can open it again but at first it complete black (even no Menus are shown). After ~20 Seconds: It shows "No Contacts in List" and after another 5 seconds later: Contacts are back and in correct Order. No doubles or anything else.
D.) Phone Menu: Still dead
E.) Hub: Still dead

And: Apps (OS Apps too like the Camera) are still crashing when minimized.

The whole OS is extreme laggy.

All Apps are crashing as soon as they are minimized.
BUT: As long as they are open, they are working fine. Well laggy but fine.
Seems some changes are interfering with how things are handled to keep core features in the Background running (aka "Headless Apps"). Seems we need the full .845 OS to be installed as the changes are big this time.

Ok another try:
Try Number 2:
I reloaded from .725:
a.) sys.escreens-10.2.1.1065.bar
b.) sys.pim.messages-10.2.1.30.bar <- This is the Important Bar for the HUB!!
c.) sys.settings.accounts-1.0.1.11.bar
d.) sys.settings-10.2.1.37.bar
I did not reload the "sys.data.carrier_data-10.2.1.34.bar" as i want to try IF the Phone Menu is back, if the .845 is compatible. And besides that: If you cant make Calls, it does not matter which bar is installed

Result Number 2:
A.) Settings: More fluid again.
B.) Phone Menu: Still Dead
C.) Hub: Working again and everything is there. Alle eMail Accounts (i use only IMAP Accounts) are working. Like i said before: Changes to the Hub must be big under the hood so no way to get the .845 Bar working without the Full OS.

D.) Still existent: The "Stop playing with my Heart or I will go on a kill mission when you reject me" Crash

Ok. Round Number 3 to try get rid of the crashes:
I reloaded from .725:
a.) sys.android-10.2.1.20.bar
b.) sys.android.shell-10.2.1.13.bar

Result Number 3: Apps are still crashing.
Question: Why did you reload the older Android BARs?
Answer: I decided to reload the Android BARs as i hoped, it is just an incompatibility thing. But the Problem is much deeper in the .845 OS

And again:
[!From here on i use the updated Sachesi 1.1.1 and Sachesi is quick as always again. Thanks xsacha. (As there is no Change Log, i have no idea if this is just an Accident or if you did some specific Code Changes for 10.2.1.xxx)]

Try Number 4:
As i DONT have the whole .725 OS lying around, i reloaded:

from the .641 OS:
a.) sys.phone_settings-10.2.1.46.bar
b.) sys.phone-10.2.1.46.bar
For the Phone Menu and

from OS .725
c.) sys.pim.email.card-10.2.1.40.bar
d.) sys.pim.email.composer.card-10.2.2.31.bar
to be able to open my emails again.
Hint: After the Hub was working again, i could receive emails but i cant open them or create a new of course.
I simply forgot to reinstall these Files Well now its done and i can my eMails not only receive and see the new ones, i am able to open them again.

Result Number 4:
eMail: Accessible again
Phone Menu: Working again completely
Able to make calls: Yes
Calls stable: As far as tested: Yes
Apps still crashing: No

I dont have any more time to play around (and no other OS's BARs too). So i will see if can live with this very crank OS Combo.

N.) sys.pim.messages <- This is the Important Bar for the HUB!!
O.) sys.settings.accounts
P.) sys.settings

Remember: These Files are incompatible on personal Combination of Different OS's and BAR Files. MAYBE some of them work on another OS, MAYBE NOT.

And Sorry for my bad english. I will correct the rest of the Typos later.

Maybe try Japanese plus sys.data.imf.root, but keep your current version of that file in case.

what exactly is picture password for those who have seen it?? is it like you choose a picture and when you are unlocking the device you have to click the right one to unlock?
