In 1997 Ericsson GH337. In 1999 Ericsson T28. Then a Siemens S45 which has to date the best call recorder . After that in 2007 a Samsung SGH P310 ultra slim Cardphone with double battery. Then in 2009 BlackBerry Curve. Then the 9900. Then P9982, iPhone 6, P9983, iPhone 6s, Passport SE. IPhone 7 jet black 256. Main driver is P9983. Leisure P9982. Travel phone iPhone for the music and travel apps. Passport was just an extra, would make it my main driver if I didn't have the P9983. Still have boxed and sealed another P9983 and Classic white.

Too many android phones to remeber,galaxy notes 1,2.3.sony erickson x10,,Samsung s,and s2 &s3,htcs from desire through to the m8,windows lumia 800 up to the 1020,and ios from 3gs to 5s,nokias from the 5110 through to n900,and finally blackberry including both storms many curves and lots of bolds through to my classic.

Yes. Just yes. But if you had a Maemo phone, does that mean you had a communicator? And I had the opportunity to play around with a Meego powered N9. Even in 2016 it's such a smooth and responsive OS

Yep. The best UX I ever seen :-( unfortunately, main problem was not just not having necessary apps, it was slow hardware. Web browsing while any other task is active became *very* painful on single core CPU in just year or two after it was released :-(

I used the n9 some parts of 2015-2016 and although it was the best experience I ever had with a phone, I just couldn't take the 2min loading of some websites (amazing that it even was able to load all the sites I use), no LTE connectivity and the death of the unofficial whatsapp client.

Meego, bb10, I think I need to jump to another dying platform soon to keep the momentum going.

Before I turn to BlackBerry. I use Nokia for long time, from 2110, 8110, 6210, 6310, E71 and E72, which last nokia I used. Also because E series, I do like use keyboard...

In the dark and distant past - the year 2000 - I got a PHILLIPS SAVVY for my first mobile phone. Spoiler alert; it wasn't very savvy. But it made calls and eventually (once my network got it working) could send and receive these things called "SMS". Crazy technology.




That phone didn't survive a big night out, so then I settled in with a NOKIA 5110. Everyone I knew had that phone. It was THE Nokia phone to have at the time. It had Snake and removable covers - the ultimate in mobile communication. It was a simpler time...




A year or so rolled around, and I couldn't go past a NOKIA 5510 at a clearance sale. This phone didn't sell very well in Australia, but I had to have one nevertheless. The physical keyboard, oh my! It was love at first sight. No need to mess around with T9 predictive text anymore, which I admit I never mastered. Plus, the beasty brick had a whopping 32MB of storage for the inbuilt MP3 player AND an FM radio!! This was serious technology for 2001. I'd love to say I was the envy of my friends, but alas I was not. As far as anyone else was concerned, it was too "weird".




The physical keyboard had sucked me in, so my next phone in 2006 was something else that didn't sell well. The SIEMENS SK65. Technically my first Blackberry, since it had BlackBerry software preloaded (Blackberry as a "software company" - I know crazy huh??? ). The phone had a decent amount of "business" focused applications on it, as well as Chessmaster which I'd admit was pretty good for a chess game. One of my favourite phones, and still works to this day after travelling all over the world with me for many years.




Then there was that brief fling with an LG KS360. The less said about it, the better. It crashed or froze all of the time. It had a terrible keyboard. When it didn't survive a Friday night at the pub a couple of months after I had purchased it, I was happy to dust off my old Siemens SK65 the next day.




In late 2010 I felt I needed to find out what all of this "smartphone" and "Android" business was about. So my first foray into Android was a HTC LEGEND. I'll admit it was a pretty nice phone, despite the HTC bloatware ("HTC Sense"). It was a bit under-powered though. And it didn't have a physical keyboard...




Longing for that click-clack of a physical keyboard, I picked up a MOTOROLA MILESTONE 2 that was on clearance. It was... okay. Bit of a slow coach performance-wise. I thought the HTC bloatware was bad, but Motorola took it up a notch with "Motoblur". Ugh.




Longing for a more modern version of my Siemens SK65, which I really adored, I ignored all of my naysayer friends ("A Blackberry is a great phone ... for 2006") and got a BLACKBERRY Q10. That was in early 2014. I still have it now, and it continues to serve me very well. I will continue to use it until it dies. I was late to the Blackberry party, but I'm certainly a convert. A very well built piece of technology.




So in summary (because this post is way too long, which I'm sorry for):
Best phone: Siemens SK65, or my current Blackberry Q10
Worst phone: LG KS360
Honorary mention: The Nokia 5510. For its time, this phone was quite a well performing, feature rich and resilient phone. And it had Snake, Bantumi and Space Impact.


Reading this thread, it doesn't look like I am alone when it comes to owning phones which are different to what everyone else on the street has. It is nice to know that I'm not the only "unfashionable" one out there!!

Also I am surprised at the number of people who are previous Palm tragics. I had a Palm Tungsten T3 for years, and when it died I bought another one!! Like my choice of phones, my Palm was also VERY uncool but I loved what it could do. The PIM features on the Palm were unprecedented.

Sony-Ericsson UIQ series, Nokia N8, a bunch of Android phones by Huawei. Q10 replaced my N8 somewhat and continued with the Android parallel to Q10. Moto X (1st), Samsung S7 currently.

Q10 is by far the best overall phone although it doesn't shine in any single category. After all, I've been using it for 4 years now. And it's still usable (on my 4th battery).

There's nothing before BlackBerry , my first mobile was Motorola, than I used a few Nokia phones, I remember the Nokia N95, it was cool! Then I moved into a BlackBerry Curve 9360, the beloved BlackBerry Z10, a BQ Aquaris X5 plus and now I'm using a passport.
