Landlines, hand written letters and get this, face to face conversations... yes those did exist.

Back in the days I worked for a telco so I used many different phones. From strictly analog to dual mode phones. Mostly I'd say Samsung. My first smart phone was BlackBerry and beside a 3 month fling with a Galaxy s6 has been and continues to be BlackBerry.

    At first Siemens A52
    Then Philips 768
Then Sony Ericsson w302 and a Chinese feature phone along side it for few days
Then the Era of Nokia! N70...N72...N73...N72...N70...N97mini...
    I still have a Nokia 1208...
    And from 2 years...I'm using BlackBerry Z30...

I had a Motorola Brick and then a series of Motorola flip phones, also had a Radio Shack Hard wired cell that I moved between different tractors and cars before coming to BlackBerry with an 8330, 9900 and Q10.

First mobile devices - well, electronic calculators, of course. Many of them, from simple to programmables.

I have discovered Sharp and HP pocket computers somewhere in 1985-86. The first model I could afford was Sharp PC (can't remember the number) in 1989 with basic text editor which I used for simple notes and as phone directory.

Sharp Wizard Organizers - I owned three models and loved them. They could run for more than a year on one set of batteries! And connect to a modem and to print directly to (optional) mobile printer! Full backup on PC was more reliable and user friendly than BlackBerrly Link. But sync software was over USD 100 per floppy.
Have tried one Rolodex Organizer for awhile - it was cool device however more for the desk than for the travel.

Saved cash for Psion and then I found Palm.
Palm: IIIx, Vx, Tungsten T, TX. Several "lighter" models of Zire series were bought for family members. Briefly owned one Sony Palm OS device which had the best keyboard for that time - it was stolen after a couple of weeks.

First mobile phone: Philips Genie. I stayed with Philips for several years. Battery life was superb, about 1 week with Ozeo.

    First smartphone: Palm Treo.
After that two Symbian devices of Nokia which I loved and hated. More hated, probably. Treo's keyboard and sync capabilities were better (Palm Desktop, I miss you).

Was curious about strange looking RIM pagers and RIM phones for years but never cared to study them carefully.
    Until...
My new employer asked me to use 9700 Bold - and BlackBerry became my main mobile device. Current one is Passport SE - I'm going to use it until the battery is dead.

Before the summer of '07 when I got my BlackBerry Pearl 8100...

I had a Motorola flip phone. Before that, a Nokia of some kind, and my first mobile phone back around 1998 was some phone that had the little thin antenna that you could pull up about 3 inches and a cover that flipped down.

I honestly never paid any attention to model numbers of those devices and couldn't tell you what any of them where to save my life. Especially the name of that first device.

All that changed once I got that BlackBerry.

    T5 was great model.
Family members were more interested in cameras in 71 and 72 rather than in the desktop. Girls could make selfies (with a mirror) and shot videos of kitties. More important then wasting time on contacts sync and stuff.
