My wife is in Shanghai this week and it appears that BBM is not working on the cell network. She has an android (I have a real BlackBerry of course) she has not tried it on Wifi yet. Is this normal?

Doesn't China have a ban on social networks (twitter, facebook etc.) does BBM fall into that category?

Her roaming data is turned on; forgot to mention that. And, I called AT&T and they confirmed her international data is operating. She is in a Wifi zone now and BBM is now working so still not sure if it is working on mobile data but I will have her try again later as she is in meetings all day there now. Oh, and none of her email accounts were working either so I think that eliminates the ban on social media theory but I was thinking about that as well.

My bbm worked fine over wifi while I was in China a few months back. I didn't try mobile data though as my bb10 wasn't using the local china sim...

Holy cow I had the same question. Did BBM Voice and/or Video work? Anyone know if SIP2SIP TLS over TCP is working over mobile data in Beijing and/or Shanghai?

WCDMA 3G China unicom or WIFI ,BBM voice/video is working fine in China. China Mobile EDGE can't be used, BBM text only.
