Is there an app that can transmit the music playing on my BB as a radio frequency, so I can get the music in my car?

What about Pandora? Most cars have BT connectivity and Pandora and Stitcher are two I can think of.

Not this one. Going on a 6 hour trip in a friend's old Honda from the early 2000's.

No...you can't create an FM transmitter through software alone. There is no hardware to make this possible.

If it's old enough, maybe a 3.5mm to cassette adapter?

You need to buy an FM transmitter, like this one:

Belkin is a little spendy, I'm sure you can find something similar for a few bucks on eBay.

I use my trusty Nokia 808 or Nokia N8 to do FM transmission.
Although you can probably buy an FM transmitter adapter for your headphone jack.
