I see it many times, but a simple task of deleting duplicate contacts from my contact list takes a million years as the next generation computing platform deletes every contact in the typical BlackBerry fashion. So I'm stuck waiting, so I go ahead minimize it and hope that it's doing it in the background while I do otherstuff....my foot...nits not doing annythibg.

Sorry for the typos. I'm new to the 10.

Your post title is unnecessarily argumentative and at least slightly deceiving.

I don't know enough about the inner workings of this OS to comment on or understand why that's the case.
It certainly isn't evidence that the BB10 platform can't multitask. It is (possibly) evidence that you can't delete contacts in the background, which is a good thing from a security standpoint by the way.

Anyway, it is still an interesting observation.
Supposedly a fix is coming from BBRY for this acknowledged issue. Hopefully soon, since it understandably frustrates a lot of people it seems.

Funny...my typos all but disappeared when I switched to the Z10. My texting was much worse on my old phone.

Taking notes, Facebook, checking email and texting all in seconds in my college classes. I can safely say it is very capable of multi-tasking. Very effectively, too.

Replying to this. Texting. In the middle of organizing my Evernote stuff. Merged some contacts in the background and tried deleting some as you said. And voila all worked.

    Multitasking? Yep working as intended.

At the very least the op could make the right statement. It can multitask in the active tiles background, but can only have one app running on the screen at once.

Not multitasking capable? Strange, I can do multiple tasks at once on my Z10.

sidebar: yeah it does take a long time to delete contacts. but it will work even when minimized. just may take an hour
