    Hello all,
I hope this is the right place to post this question. If not please point me to the correct forum.

I am writing an App for BB10 and need to use 'Raw Sockets'. The socket function call returns error as raw sockets need root permissions.
How can i give my app root permissions?

I am using Z10 with latest BB10 OS version. I am using Momentics IDE for app development.

I appreciate any kind of help.

    Thanks in advance,

    -AR

    You can't.

Why do you need raw sockets?

BB10 can't be rooted but look forward to the app. Sounds interesting! I think only an app made by blackberry itself can utilize raw sockets hence what keeps it such a locked down a.k.a safe Operating system. Don't quote me as maybe someone else may know better. In any case, good luck with the new app. Do you mind if we ask what it is regarding?

I was hoping that raw sockets could be used as it is mentioned in the reference pages: https://developer.blackberry.com/nat.../s/socket.html

I need to use raw sockets to solve the IPV6-IPV4 problem: I have a IPV6 only connection at home and my mobile data connection is IPV4 only. So to reach my home network i was hoping to try and use the 6to4 relay servers. For that i need to assemble my own packets hence the raw sockets.

Or is there a better way to solve this problem?

Thank you guys for the comments. It turns out that my ISP filters out the 6to4 encapsulated packet. so this option wont help me much!

I would post it on stackexchange any way!!
